Please visit the Benefits page (for more information.Work Location: This position will be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, pursuant to the College's Work Location Policy.Job SummaryThe Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of exempt monthly and non-exempt bi-weekly payrolls. This individual is the primary liaison with ADP and various state and local agencies, and works closely with the Human Resources Office (HR) and Instructional & Information Technology Services (IITS), as needed. The Manager also is responsible for researching general ledger entries and providing assistance related to the appropriate general ledger accounts.Primary ResponsibilitiesSupervise the Payroll AccountantProcess monthly and bi-weekly payrolls, which includes validating payroll data, reviewing payroll reports, and distributing payroll checksWork closely with various campus offices, especially HR, IITS, and the Provost OfficesEnsure compliance with applicable payroll policies, procedures, tax laws, and regulationsMaintain payroll information and directs the collection, calculation, and entry of dataDetermine payroll liabilities by reviewing the calculation of federal, state, and local taxesProvide payroll information by answering questions and requestsComply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new tax lawsMaximize the use of technology, making recommendations for improvements in the payroll processesReview and updates related internal controls and troubleshoots payroll system issues when necessaryLead the payroll system testing for Workday; understands and utilize the payroll system to maximize operational efficiency and effectivenessPrepare reports, analyses, and correspondencePartner with ADP for tax balancing and reportingConduct quarterly balancing and year-end reporting for W2'sPerform other duties as assignedLine of Report: The Payroll Manager reports to the Assistant Vice President, Controller, and Associate Treasurer and oversees the Payroll Accountant. Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degreeSeven (7) years of experience in payrollProfessional Competencies Have integrity and sound judgmentAbility to effectively and professionally work with staff, students, and all levels of administrationAbility to maintain an extremely high level of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive informationDetail-oriented, accurate, and thorough in planning and implementing work tasksAbility to work independently, multitask and prioritize, reconcile discrepancies to ensure accuracy, and adapt to changes in priorities and assignmentsClient service focus and mindsetAbility to solve problems proactively, creatively, and innovativelyKnowledge of and experience with Payroll software systemsDemonstrated knowledge of payroll taxes, laws, and regulationsProficiency in Microsoft Office applications and financial accounting processes and systemsResourceful and flexible in using available resources and technology efficientlyAbility to adapt to technological changeEffective written, verbal, communication, presentation, and organizational skillPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree with a concentration in the fields of accounting, economics, finance, or managementExperience with Workday system for Human Resources and PayrollKnowledge of payroll tax at the federal and state levelsBusiness savvy and superior negotiating skillsComprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically advanced ExcelTo Apply: Interested applicants are invited to submit an application, to include a cover letter and resume by visiting our website or use the "Apply Now" button on this page.
