Job Description:Summary: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care and needs of each patient (neonate through geriatric).Reports to: House Supervisor, ER Manager, CNETitles Supervised: LPN s and CNA sEssential Duties & ResponsibilitiesComplete comprehensive nursing assessment on each patient under care and document appropriately.Administer medications or delegate medication administration to LPNPerform or delegate nursing interventions and provide for safe and effective nursing care.Advocate for patients and evaluate response to intervention and effectiveness of plan of care.Provide health education to patients and families/caregivers and administer blood productsSupervise LPNs and ER Techs to assure competent patient care provided.Supervise ER TechniciansProvide care for trauma patients of all agesServe as house supervisor when necessary including weekends, holidays, and night shiftBe familiar with EMS systemCommunicate using 2 way radio with 911, ambulance service and First RespondersAssess acuity level of patient presenting for ER and prioritize who to be seen first, second etc.Periodically reassess patients for condition changes until seen in ERPerform call-back of patients seen in ER to check on condition following treatment per policy.Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospitalKeep current with professional license, certifications and literature reviewAdditional Duties, Tasks, Responsibilities and ExpectationsComply with all hospital policies and procedures as applicable for position including employee handbook, department and administrative policies and procedures, goals and objectives for self, department and performance improvement, safety compliance program, HIPAA and confidentiality, accreditation, and survey standards and infection control.Provide exceptional customer service to all external (patients, families, etc.) and internal (co-workers, other departments, physicians, etc.) customers.Participate in staff meetings and serve on hospital committees/teams as appropriate.Perform work in effective, organized, accountable and competent manner including following oral and written instructions.Be respectful, courteous and caring in all interactions with others.Demonstrate initiative and ownership in performance of duties and be self-starter.Pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospital including computer based testing.Adapt to changing work assignments and comfortable serving diverse communityPromote hospital services in service delivery area.Function well under stressful conditions involving other departments, workload, etc.Keep knowledge and skills current via education activities, in-services and other training.Report to next shift or manager any problems or areas of concern to correct.Perform related duties as needed including assisting others with their work.Position Urgency:Quick StartShifts:Nights, 7p-7a every other weekendState License Details:Must Be Currently ActiveMinimum Years of Experience:2Minimum Guaranteed Hours:36Specialty Type:NursingSub Specialty:Emergency Room NurseGeneral Certifications:ACLSBLS/BCLSPALSNRPATTBilingual:NoEMR Used:MeditechHoliday Coverage Required:No
