The school secretary serves as the welcoming face of Broughal Middle School. While the position performs routine administrative functions such as drafting correspondence, scheduling appointments, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, responding to email inquiries, providing information to callers, and registering students, the successful candidate will also have the ability and take the initiative to streamline processes within the main office. The secretary performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills and Abilities Ability to interact professionally through all communication processes with district personnel, students, parents, and outside agencies while maintaining a positive, service-oriented demeanor especially while under pressure. Must be task oriented with superior organizational skills and the ability to multitask and prioritize. Exceptional proofreading and editing skills for thorough document review. Proven experience in executing mail merge tasks. Knowledge of and proficient ability to effectively use technology such as but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Google Suite (Mail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, & Slides) and Synergy. Attention to detail when generating purchase orders, allocating budget codes, and reviewing building supplies. Adaptable and capable of quickly mastering new systems and software. Flexibility to complete all other duties as assigned.
