JOB TITLE: Property Controller DEPARTMENT: Accounting SUPERVISORS: General Manager UPDATED: September 2024 POSITION PURPOSE Actively participate as a financial leader within the property and the company to ensure sufficient controls, processes and procedures to: (a) maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations, (b) produce accurate and timely financial information, and (c) manage property accounting staff ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Act as a financial business partner on a consistent basis, engaging property management with creative solutions to improve overall business results and processes. 2. Select, develop and manage an effective team of accounting associates including but not limited to receivables, collections, accounts payable, payroll, cashier, night audit and income audit. 3. Produce materially accurate and timely financial reports and statements for internal and external uses. 4. Implement and maintain accounting processes and procedures, based on prescribed guidelines (Marcus Ways, SOX, US GAAP). 5. Create, maintain and safeguard accounting records. 6. Ensure adequate processes and procedures to protect company assets. 7. As circumstances change, actively engage and work with Central Accounting, to change company policies to better match our dynamic business environment. 8. Drive the annual budget process for both financial and capital projections. 9. Develop operational analysis and information for effective and useful decision making by the property as well as Central Accounting. 10. Collaborate with property management team and Central Accounting to ensure accounting challenges are resolved in a timely manner. 11. Perform related management activities as required. POSITION REQUIREMENTS 1. Previous management experience, preferably 5-7 years within a multi-site, high-volume hospitality company. 2. Four-year accounting degree required. CPA designation desired. 3. Demonstrated leadership skills with a bias toward action and team building. 4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 5. Passion toward financial analysis and discovering new, efficient ways to accomplish property and company goals. 6. Represent company in a professional manner. 7. Ability to work required hours. 8. Advanced computer skills relating to Microsoft Office software. Peoplesoft experience desired but not required. 9. Ability to travel as required, approximately 10%.
