Kiko is a new 75-seat restaurant from the husband-wife team Alex Chang and Lina Goujjane. Chef Chang's cuisine harmoniously blends American fare with Asian accents. Chang's food is hyper-seasonal, influenced by his West Coast and Chinese roots, while also reflecting his work experience in Japan. Chef Chang opened his first restaurant in Miami at just 24 years old, and his career has taken him around the world, from Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo's Animal in Los Angeles to the renowned Pujol and Quintonil in Mexico City to the two Michelin starred Les Créations de Narisawa. Prior to Kiko, Chang held the Executive Chef position at NYC's famed Il Buco Alimentari. Kiko will feature a full bar and an ambitious beverage program run by Lina Goujjane, an alum of The Nomad, Momofuku Group and two star Sushi Noz. Goujjane is a second-generation NYC restaurateur and sommelier. Opening cocktail list will be a curation from former veteran of Saga and Overstory, Chris Lemperle. The elegantly redesigned space will be a destination-worthy draw to Hudson Square, a prime 33-block neighborhood ideally situated between the West Village, SoHo, and TriBeCa in Lower Manhattan. Recent collab Pop Ups include Kiko X Parcelle Wine Bar, Kiko X ATLA As a Sommelier at Kiko you are responsible for helping to maintain the integrity of the wine program while facilitating proper wine service in our dining room. You are responsible for not only thoughtful, attentive wine service, but also a general helpful demeanor towards colleagues with a keen sense of guest's needs. The Sommelier should work closely with the Server team to ensure guest satisfaction and smooth service. The wine list is an eclectic mix of wines from every major winegrowing region of the world. We will strive to showcase true diversity in our wine offerings with an innate understanding of historic regional significance and a forward-thinking view towards up and coming potential. An open mind and passion for great wine of varying provenance will allow us to build a legendary wine program that truly speaks to the potential of an international wine list. Sommelier Expectations: Precise, consistent and timely execution of wine service Able to train fellow teammates by leading wine education as well as coaching throughout the shift High level of beverage knowledge, specifically the full wine list, beer, cocktails and digestif spirit offerings Actively engaging with the team (during line-up and outside of it) to help build wine knowledge and develop Servers/Bartenders in their growth Assisting bartenders and wine bar servers in restocking by the glass (BTG) wines Working independently and proactively, making sure the cellar and wine stations are prepared for service Ensuring proper maintenance, organization and cleanliness of the wine room, wine storage and service areas at all times
