Description This position assists in the repair and maintenance of department vehicles and equipment. Job Responsibilities * Repairs and overhauls truck brakes and clutches. * Repairs hydraulic and electrical systems on heavy road equipment and diesel vehicles. * Performs transmission and engine repairs. * Operates testing equipment, troubleshoots, and makes repairs. * Replaces water and fuel pumps. * Performs on-the-road repairs of disabled road equipment and vehicles. * Operates road equipment and vehicles for testing purposes. * Maintains records of repair work done. * Repairs gas-operated weed eaters and chainsaws. * Repairs all vehicles and equipment. * Able to report regularly for work and be on time. * Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Qualifications * High School Diploma/GED * 2+ years of experience using hand and power tools * 2+ years of experience in the maintenance of tools and equipment * 2+ years of experience in general fleet maintenance jobs * Customer Service Oriented * Ability to lift 50 lbs * Must pass a Criminal Background check. * Must pass a driver's license background check. * Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. * Must be able to pass alcohol and drug testing. * Must possess a Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License Physical Demands/Work Environment * Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. * Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken. * The work is typically performed sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and heavy objects. * The work is typically performed in a service center occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery and chemicals.
