Park Supervisor Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled, positive, and motivated Park Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and repair activities within our parks. The Park Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for supervising staff, contractors and volunteers and inspecting park grounds and facilities, and training maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities, excellent team building and organizational skills, as well as a passion for preserving and enhancing outdoor spaces for the community to enjoy. Reports to the Parks Services Manager. Essential Functions: * Monitor the maintenance activities of Parks, Right of Ways, Cemeteries and Splashpads. * Manage employees schedule, evaluations, and disciplinary issues in mowing operation. * Provides direct supervision and direction to staff and volunteers involved in park maintenance projects, splashpads and repair activities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. * Assists in coordinating large community events hosted in City parks as well as providing staff support. * Build a positive work environment conducive to team building and department unity. * Conduct regular inspections of park grounds, splashpads and facilities, and equipment to assess safety, cleanliness, and functionality, and address any issues or concerns promptly. * Develop and deliver training programs for maintenance staff to enhance their skills and knowledge and participate in the recruitment and selection process to hire qualified personnel as needed. * Manage Inventory for supplies, equipment, assets, and facilities. * Must have knowledge of turf management practices, playground safety and TDA laws and Splash Pads / Pools. * Follows departmental policies with all purchases of minor and major equipment (trenchers, sky track, scissor lift, etc.) using City issued credit card. * Receives and/or reviews various records and reports such as vehicle maintenance reports, equipment maintenance reports, blueprints/architectural drawings, maps, City ordinances, personnel manual, insurance forms, timesheets, Master card invoices, telephone messages, job applications, and chemical labels/MSDS. * Prepares and/or processes various records and reports such as blueprints and shop drawings, landscape design, irrigation design, employee work schedules, purchase orders, equipment service records, equipment repair records, timesheets, pest control sheets, and minor purchase order forms. * Refers to policy manuals, equipment manuals, architectural drawings, landscape and irrigation drawings, pool manual, structural pest control manual, safety manuals, etc. * Operates a variety of vehicles and equipment such as pick-up truck, two-way radio, light and heavy equipment, camera, mowing equipment, gas pumps, tractors, dump trucks, air compressor, backhoe loader, bobcat, welder, telephone, etc. * Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the Athletics, co-workers, other departments, clubs, Police and Fire Department, and the public. Minimum Training and Experience: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by three to five years of preferably in park work, landscaping, equipment operations, irrigation, and supervisor experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must possess a valid State driver's license. Must possess or be willing to acquire TDA Applicators, Vector and CPO certifications. Must acquire within 6 months. Ability to: * Communicate effectively with others orally and in writing. * Maintain accurate records and prepare reports. * Estimate labor, materials, and tools necessary for projects. * Read and interpret blueprints and property maps. * Operate computer, calculator, and other office equipment. * Adapt to frequently changing conditions or needs. * Work under a schedule. * Follow oral and written instructions. * Problem Solve * Ability to work in all types of weather * Work some weekends , holidays and be "On Call" as needed. Physical Requirements: * Lift sackrete (80 pounds) from floor to knuckle height and carry up to 15 feet. * Lift from floor to knuckle height a manhole cover weight up to 80 pounds. * Employee lifts/carries up to 80 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the time or 1-100 times per day). Employee lifts/carries 50 pounds frequently (34%-66% of the time of 100-500 times per day). * Employee lifts/carries 10 pounds constantly (67%-100% of the time or over 500 times per day). Employee's positions require pushing a maximum force of 50 pounds. Employee's position requires pulling a maximum force of 50 pounds. * Climbs stairs and ladders.
