Position Summary The account executive will be responsible for increasing athletic ticket revenue by selling tickets to Rice Athletics events, servicing customer accounts, all with the intent of elevating the brand of Rice Athletics. Under the guidance of the director of ticket sales, this role is responsible for selling season tickets, mini plans, and group tickets by making outbound sales calls, arranging client meetings, managing sales tables at athletic and community events, and seeking referrals from their existing portfolio. The account executive is also responsible for stewardship of accounts, including servicing season ticket member accounts and fulfilling group sale obligations. On occasion, the account executive may be asked to participate in soliciting donations for the Owl Club, the annual fund for Rice Athletics. The account executive will be a teachable, positive and passionate individual who is committed to becoming a leader sports sales industry and who understands that driving ticket sales revenue is his or her primary goal. Workplace Requirements * 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. * Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as event schedule requires * Nights and weekends as event schedules and/or sales calls require. Some local travel required * Ability to travel * Ability to work long periods of time at a desk (up to eight hours) * Ability to work at events outdoors during varying weather conditions * Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime. Minimum Requirements * High School Diploma or equivalent * 2+ years of relevant experience * In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted Skills Required * Must be able to correspond professionally both in writing and orally * Strong customer service skills, including the ability handle discontented customers in a professional and courteous manner * Must be familiar with MS Office Suite * Strong attention to detail * Perseverance and grit * Strong work-ethic and self-motivated * Ability to maintain confidentiality of data about clients * Ability to work well in teams and collaborate with diverse constituents * Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel and PowerPoint Preferred qualifications * Bachelor's degree * One to two years of experience in a sales and service-related role Skills Preferred * Knowledge of NCAA, American Athletic Conference, and Rice University Rules and Regulations, including Rice accounting practices and PCI compliance * Perseverance and grit * Ability to display unusual self-control when dealing with discontented customers having a variety of complaints * Ability to work well in teams and collaborate with diverse constituents, especially the Athletic Marketing and Sponsorship teams * Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to creatively solve problems, pushing through road blocks * Ability to effectively synthesize information and prepare group and corporate sales reports that communicate results of sales team Essential Functions * Pursues sales leads * Conducts inbound and outbound sales calls * Assesses customer needs and recommends appropriate products and services * Stewards accounts and maintains customer records * Responds to inquiries and places orders for services or products * May assist in identifying new sales leads * Performs all other duties as assigned Rice University HR | Benefits: Rice Mission and Values: Mission and Values | Rice University Rice University is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity at all levels.
