Role Overview: The Sous Chef will play a pivotal role in supporting the Executive Chef in overseeing kitchen operations, menu execution, and culinary innovation. Skills such as leadership and culinary expertise will contribute to creating exceptional dining experiences and upholding the restaurant's reputation. Role Highlights: Collaborative Support: Work closely with the Head Chef to oversee kitchen operations. Menu Execution: Assist in menu development and execute dishes with precision. Innovative Ideas: Contribute creative culinary ideas and showcase your expertise. Safety Standards: Enforce food safety and sanitation practices for a clean kitchen. Culinary Growth: Participate in training programs and enhance your culinary skills. Leadership Role: Step in to lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef. Reporting Lines: The Sous Chef will report directly to the Head Chef. Roles and Responsibilities: Collaborate closely with the Head Chef to ensure seamless kitchen operations and adherence to culinary standards. Assist in menu development, contributing creative ideas and executing dishes with precision. Oversee food preparation, cooking, and plating to ensure dishes are executed to the highest quality standards. Lead and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, growth, and culinary excellence. Assist in managing kitchen scheduling, inventory, and cost controls to achieve financial objectives. Enforce DOH food safety and sanitation practices, maintaining a hygienic and organized kitchen environment. Monitor food quality, presentation, and portioning to maintain consistency and guest satisfaction. Support the Head Chef in sourcing and selecting ingredients from vendors/suppliers. Collaborate with front-of-house staff for efficient communication and seamless guest experiences. Work with the management team in deciding employee of the month. File incident reports with HR as needed Step in to lead kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef. Other duties as assigned by the Head Chef. Requirements: At least 2 years of previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior role in a high-end restaurant or culinary establishment. Culinary degree or equivalent education in culinary arts is preferred but not mandatory. Proficiency in various cooking techniques, cuisines, and presentation styles. Leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor kitchen staff to achieve excellence. Creative mindset and a passion for culinary innovation, bringing fresh ideas to the table. Strong organizational and time-management skills to manage a fast-paced kitchen. Well-versed with DOH food safety and sanitation regulations, ensuring a clean and safe kitchen. Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This isn't like every other job you've had where you're forced to stay inside the "˜box'.
