PASCO, WASHINGTON 99301 PHONE (509) 543-6700 FAX (509) 543-6728 Open: August 28, 2024 Close: September 4, 2024 or until filled POSITION FOR 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR AVAILABLE TO IN-DISTRICT DRIVER APPLICANTS ONLY POSITION: DRIVER SPECIALIST Transportation Department - Building 210 EFFECTIVE DATE: 2024-2025 School Year SALARY: $28.30- $29.86(Based on the 24-25 salary schedule) SCHEDULE: 8 Hours Per Day, maximum 40 hours per week, (may include Saturdays) 210-day Work Year and Additional Days As Needed REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications which are essential to the position) * Meets all the required qualifications of a Regular Bus Driver, including physical capacities, WA Driver's License, and CDL with School Bus endorsement * OSPI Training Certification, or ability and willingness to obtain OSPI training certification within one (1) year *(July 2025 for this posting) * Must have five (5) years school bus driver experience, with at least three (3) years in Pasco School District * Has successfully completed Pasco School District's Driver Training Course * Has had no preventable accidents in the two (2) years from date of application * Has had no sustained disciplinary action in the two (2) years from date of application * Must work within designated bounds of authority and confidentiality * Demonstrated punctuality and an excellent work attendance record * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form * Proficient in MS Office programs including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint; demonstrated ability to use various mobile technology platforms * Ability to schedule, organize, and present ideas effectively and clearly * Ability to deliver instruction to meet the needs of diverse adult learners * Knowledge of federal, state, and Pasco School District Transportation rules and policies * Ability to follow safe work practices and procedures * Ability to establish and maintain professional, cooperative working relationships * Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students and patrons * Ability to do school bus vehicle inspections and maneuver bus under all driving conditions * Ability to work effectively with large groups of students * Must be able to work flexible hours PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Qualifications which are not required, but would be useful to the position) * Bilingual English/Spanish * Prior experience developing and administering training SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: * Assists the district with recruitment of new drivers and the onboarding process * Represent the district at job fairs, industry events, and community gatherings to promote the organization as an employer of choice. * Coordinate with Public Affairs/HR for recruitment advertising * Conduct classroom and on-the-road initial, refresher, and retraining of transportation personnel in safe vehicle operation, which includes defensive driving techniques, accident prevention, emergency/accident procedures, student management, standard operating procedures, and District policies * Train per Washington State law RCWs and WACs, the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction guidelines, and the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration regulations * Conduct training needs analysis * Participate in the review of identified safety hazards on routes, bus stops, and equipment; assist in the development of recommendations for solutions to such hazards * Administrate regulatory databases, i.e., OSPI, FMCSA * Work closely with the Managers, Supervisors, and Director to review and audit the curriculum keeping up with current training trends; participates on the Training Committee * Oversees and instructs trainees on student management, vehicle and equipment operation, emergency and accident procedures, and route information. * Coordinates driver/trainer schedules and plans applicable training * Recommends trainees for graduation or further instruction. * Prepares training files, develops, modifies, and administers curriculum for classroom instruction and training. * Conducts retraining for drivers, as necessary. * Assists with the production of training campaigns, and other safety and incentive programs. * Performs other related duties as assigned.
