Position Type: Auxiliary/Auxiliary Date Posted: 8/28/2024 Location: Athletics Additional Information: Show/Hide Spring Branch Independent School District Job Description Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator Job Title: Herbicide/Pesticide Applicator Reports To: Manager of District Grounds/IPM Classification: Auxiliary (Skilled Labor) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 250 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Auxiliary Pay Plan, Pay Grade 305 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Use a multi-tactical approach to preventing pest and weed problems. The Licensed Applicator will incorporate and oversee herbicide and pesticide application procedures into the maintenance program conducted by our District for control for outdoor pest and weed problems. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification: * High school diploma or equivalent. * Valid Texas driver's license. * Valid certification as a commercial or non-commercial applicator granted by the Texas Department of Agriculture with the following categories: 3A- lawn and ornamental. Special Knowledge/Skills: * Knowledge of school IPM laws and regulations. * Knowledge of methods and materials for pest control and TOA regulations. * Effective written and verbal communication skills in English. * Effective written and verbal communication skills in Spanish, preferred. * Ability to operate pesticide application equipment. * Ability to utilize the computer to update and close work orders and other work related electronic communication in English. Experience: * Three (3) years as a TOA 3A applicator within a state or federal 1PM Program preferred. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Pest Management: * Oversee day-to-day outdoor pest and weed management needs of the District. * Ensure that proper pesticide application records are maintained. * Participate in continued education annually as required by TDAlaw. * Consult with the IPM Coordinator concerning use of products not on Green or Yellow list. * Adhere to all industry and District safety policies and procedures. * Respond to work orders issued for exterior pest and weed control and participate in the application of herbicides and pesticides for pest and weed control. * Prepare and maintain documentation in relation to State of Texas Department of Agriculture standards and insure compliance to those codes in performance of all assigned work task. Respond to emergency call outs as needed. * Drive District vehicle to perform assigned duties. Keep vehicle neat and clean. Perform project work and special assignments as assigned throughout the District. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Computer, various office equipment, chemical resistant gloves, goggles, face shield, bump hat, respirator and back support belt. Working Conditions: Mental Demands: * Maintain emotional control under stress. * Work with frequent interruptions. * This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public. Physical Demands: * Frequent walking, twisting, reaching, bending, climbing, kneeling, moderate lifting and carrying (105 lbs.) and crawling in tight spaces. * Occasional prolonged or irregular hours. Environmental Factors: * Required to use chemicals daily. * Exposure to noise. * Work outside. * Work inside without air conditioning. * Exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals and noxious odors.
