If a position is listed with both office locations and virtual offerings, Comcast may be willing to consider candidates who live greater than 100 miles from the office for the remote option.)Job SummaryThe AEGIS organization is responsible for building a suite of network design, drafting, visualization, and big data platforms that are transforming Comcast's network expansion and outage detection/minimization capabilities. As a Principal Big Data & Systems Architect, you will lead the design and development driving the expansion of these platforms across the enterprise in addition to revising their architecture to support multi-tenancy and revenue generation via product syndication. Your role will be pivotal in enriching our architecture to ensure scalability, efficiency, and extensibility across diverse environments. You will leverage your deep expertise in big data technologies, system design, and software engineering to drive innovative solutions that meet complex business requirements.Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:1. **Architectural Design and Strategy:** Lead the design and evolution of scalable platforms to support multi-tenancy and syndication Define architectural and development principles and standards, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable plans. Implement and improve pipeline automation and orchestration to streamline data ingestion, processing, and delivery. Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and proposing solutions that enhance platform capabilities.Optimize architectural design and intent to provide massive scale, highly performant databases & APIs while effectively managing and minimizing spend2. **Technology Expertise:** Utilize your proficiency in Java, Python, R, and other programming languages to design and implement scalable solutions. Implement and optimize data processing workflows using Spark, Databricks, and other big data frameworks. Design and optimize graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) and utilize Graph Query Languages (GQL) for efficient data retrieval and analysis. Design APIs and microservices to enable seamless integration and interaction between components.4. **Technical Leadership and Mentorship:** Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of architects and engineers. Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. Conduct technical reviews, promote best practices, and ensure high standards of software craftsmanship.5. **Collaboration and Communication:** Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand requirements and align architectural decisions. Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Drive consensus on technical solutions and architecture through persuasive communication and documentation.**Qualifications:**Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.Proven experience (15+ years) as a Big Data Architect or similar role, with a strong background in system architecture and design.3+ years big data experienceExpertise in Java, Python, R, and proficiency in big data technologies such as Spark, Databricks, etc.Experience with graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) and Graph Query Languages (GQL).Solid understanding of API design principles and microservices architecture.Experience with pipeline automation and orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Jenkins).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical challenges.Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.Familiarity with HFC and fiber network design preferred but not requiredDisclaimer:This information has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees in this role.
