This position has a current sign on bonus incentive of up to $10,000 based on shift!*You can get further details about the nature of this opening, and what is expected from applicants, by reading the below.*Overview*Riverside Walter Reed's Medical Surgical unit is a 36 bed, fast-paced multidisciplinary telemetry unit that strives to promote, restore, and maintain client's health through our Riverside mission and clinical excellence. Our nurses are skilled in assessing, diagnosing, and treating both actual and potential alterations in functional ability and lifestyle in patients with conditions ranging from post-operative orthopedic or general surgery to sepsis, heart or renal failure and more. Riverside proudly welcomes newly graduated and experienced nurses to foster continued growth and clinical development through the nursing journey to become a highly skilled and well-rounded professional.We are proud to share that greater than 50% of eligible Med/Surg nurses hold a specialty certification and nearly 60% of eligible Med/Surg nurses hold Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications with an additional 23% of of our nurse being eligible to test in this past June.*What you will do** Demonstrates ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population. Demonstrates nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training, see checklists.* Partners with patients and their family to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient. Incorporates evidence based standards of practice and collaborates with interdisciplinary team in care coordination. Facilitates safe patient transition to next level of care as part of plan of care.* Demonstrates sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure patient receives consistent, competent and ethical care. Focuses on quality outcomes of patient when addressing service needs to ensure evidence based quality care of patient.* Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations. Modifies education method to ensure patient/family understanding. Assumes responsibility to coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge specific education to family/caregivers. Evaluates for comprehension and documents.* Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.* Delegates and prioritizes tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet the patient's care needs.. Recognizes and responds to emergency situations.
