Established in 1963, Pine Haven is located on 100 acres in Allenstown, NH and welcomes boys ages 6 to 15.The duties outlined below are the essential responsibilities, skills and conditions necessary for the job. This position is responsible to the Clinical Director. Using clinical knowledge and judgement, the nurse provides health care to students, coordinates referrals to the appropriate healthcare provider. The nurse serves as a liaison between students, staff, families and health care providers to advocate for health care and a healthy environment. This is a full-time, five-day per week position. Hours may extend beyond the usual shift depending on the needs of the children.Job Description:· Implement student healthcare protocols including the administration of medication, special diets, exercises, or restricted activities, etc., as requested by healthcare providers or student's guardians.· Educate students, families, and staff regarding healthcare including: student specific healthcare needs, pertinent public health issues, environmental concerns, medications and medication administration, general health and safety issues.· Provide first aid care to injured or ill students or staff and facilitate follow up care as needed.· Transport residents, as needed to the dentist, and doctor's office.· Make sure all the medical files are up to date.· Medication management including but not limited to: routine administration, inventory management, order processing, maintenance of records, supervision of staff medication administration, and preparation of medications for off-site visits and weekend administration.· Assist Pine Haven psychiatrist when on campus. Type psychiatrist's notes and file them in appropriate files. Make sure Pine Haven has written approval from families/guardians when the psychiatrist decides to make changes to the children's medications.· Monitors, screens and responds to all pertinent communication regarding case assignments in a timely fashion.· Provide supervision of ill childrenPlease note prior to applying:Pine Haven Boys Center is open every day, regardless of weather. Though the work is primarily indoors, the nurse should be prepared to drive, walk, and work in inclement weather. This position requires standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day.
