*Lochland, Inc.*To be considered for an interview, please make sure your application is full in line with the job specs as found below.*_"Celebrating Abilities"_**Registered Nurse (RN)**TITLE: *Registered Nurse (RN)*STATUS: *Salaried, Exempt*PURPOSE: *To assist with the responsibilities of the nursing department on Lochland, Inc., particularly with those tasks that must be completed by a registered nurse.*ACCOUNTABILITY: *The Registered Nurse (RN) is employed by Lochland, Inc. and is accountable to the Executive Director through the Director of Nursing Services.*REPORTS TO: *The Director of Nursing Services*JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, TASKS, AND PERFORMANCE RESULTS EXPECTED: ** *Function: Administration *Percentage of time spent: *60% **A. Tasks ** The RN will review all provider materials provided by the Medical Coordinator/LPN and update all necessary information in electronic and written charts.* The RN will be responsible to ensure that all medications are entered in CareSuite in a timely manner and in a manner consistent with provider instructions.* The RN will review all medication administration paperwork to determine if any medication errors have been made, as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.* The RN will ensure that all medical invoices are reviewed and approved and sent to the Finance Department in a timely manner, as assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.* The RN will attend all required training events.* The RN will represent the nursing department at all Life Plan meetings as requested by the Director of Nursing Services.* The RN will present at each monthly residential All-Staff Meeting and Day Services Staff Meeting as requested by the Director of Nursing Services.*B. Performance meets expectations when: ** The RN reviews all provider materials provided by the Medical Coordinator/LPN and updates all necessary information in electronic and written charts within two (2) business days.* The RN ensures that all medications are entered in CareSuite to ensure no missed dosages occur and in a manner consistent with provider instructions.* The RN reviews all medication administration paperwork to determine if any medication errors have been made within a week of the administration and follows the Lochland Policy regarding Medication Errors.* The RN ensures that all medical invoices are reviewed and approved and sent to the Finance Department within one (1) week of receipt.* The RN attends all required training events and completes all online training by the dates assigned.* The RN represents the nursing department at all Life Plan meetings assigned and is prepared and contributes to the team decisions.* The RN presents at each monthly residential All-Staff Meeting and Day Services Staff Meeting assigned and assures that the staff members understand the content of the presentation.* *Function: Leadership and Training*Percentage of time spent: *20%** *Tasks:** The RN will serve, on a rotating basis with the Director of Nursing Services, as the RN On Call for the agency.* The RN will serve on the Incident Review Committee at the request of the Director of Nursing Services.* The RN will assist the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that all initial and annual training for staff is completed in a timely manner.* The RN will assist the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that Direct Support Professionals are trained, as required by the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, in medication administration and any additional tasks that may be delegated to them by a Registered Nurse.* The RN will ensure that all medication errors are addressed in a manner consistent with the Lochland policy.* The RN will maintain all trainings, certifications, and licenses as are required by Lochland, Inc., the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, or the State of New York.* The RN will complete other duties as requested by his/her supervisor.* *Performance meets expectations when: ** The RN serves as the RN On Call for the agency in a manner consistent with agency expectations.* The RN attends all meetings of the Incident Review Committee assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.* The RN assists the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that all initial and annual training for staff is completed by the deadlines assigned.* The RN assists the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that Direct Support Professionals are trained, as required by the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, in medication administration and any additional tasks that may be delegated to them by a Registered Nurse in keeping with agency needs and expectations.* The RN ensures that all medication errors are addressed in a manner consistent with the Lochland policy.* The RN maintains all trainings, certifications, and licenses as are required by Lochland, Inc., the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities, or the State of New York.* The RN completes assigned duties by the deadlines established.* *Function: Direct Care of Residents*Percentage of time spent: *20%** *Tasks:** The RN and the Director of Nursing Services will complete all individual consultations/assessments with residents related to medical concerns in a timely manner.* The RN and the Director of Nursing Services will be responsible for initiating and discontinuing all Head Injury Protocols for residents.* The RN will be responsible for assessing the ability of residents to attend programming events, as necessary, and to communicate that information to the appropriate parties.* The RN will assist in the transportation of individuals to provider appointments, when necessary.*B. Performance meets expectations when: ** The RN and the Director of Nursing Services complete all individual consultations/assessments with residents related to medical concerns in a timely manner.* The RN and the Director of Nursing Services initiate and discontinue all Head Injury Protocols for residents in a manner consistent with standards of care.* The RN assesses the ability of residents to attend programming events, as necessary, and communicates that information to the appropriate parties.* The RN assists in the transportation of individuals to provider appointments, when necessary.*EVALUATION:*In addition to ongoing feedback from his/her supervisor, there is a biannual evaluation of performance completed by the Director of Nursing Services.*EMPLOYMENT TERMS: *This is a full-time position for forty (40) hours per week. Additional on call responsibilities are assigned on a rotating basis. The employee must always maintain confidentiality.
