*Summary/Objective*Scroll down to find the complete details of the job offer, including experience required and associated duties and tasks.The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance and assist in all aspects of the Finance Department. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing all day-to-day accounting operations of the Finance Department as well as Month-end/Year-end processes. The Staff Accountant will also help identify and drive financial strategic objectives for the Finance Department.*Essential Functions** Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* Responsible for multiple banking and treasury management tasks, including but not limited to: cash applications, deposits, ACH payments, company credit card account management, basic forecasting, and collections. Coordinates banking and treasury tasks with Director of Finance daily or as needed. Assists with check runs as required.* Responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with General Ledger maintenance, including reconciliations and allocation of journal entries.* Responsible for accurate financial reporting in a highly manual accounting system, to include recurring internal management reports, as well as unaudited reports for external users with the approval of the Director of Finance.* Responsible for making, documenting, and approving where applicable most significant recurring operating purchases on behalf of the business, as well as ensuring supplies are managed by the Staff Accountant.* In the absence of the Director of Finance, manages general Finance department activities as required. Works directly with senior management for their day-to-day Finance department issues and questions, escalating them to the Director of Finance when necessary.* Assists with review and processing of bi-weekly payroll and payroll-related compliance and reporting as needed.* Assists with company-wide events.*Preferred Experience + Qualifications ** 3+ years of experience in accounting or operational finance activities, including one year of experience managing all or significant portions of the financial reporting cycle.* Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in accounting or business.* A candidate must have advanced MS Excel skills (including extensive VLOOKUP and filtering functions and .csv data handling), significant experience with MS Office, and the use of multiple disparate databases.* CPA Preferred* A candidate must demonstrate very strong communication skills (in-person, phone, and email) and be able to provide professional customer service to customers, vendors, and all Thoroughbred team members at every level of the company.* Organization, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment are required.Job Type: Full-timePay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* 401(k) matching* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Life insurance* Paid time off* Vision insurancePhysical setting:* OfficeSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Monday to FridayAbility to Relocate:* Zeeland, MI 49464: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
