Job DescriptionThe Senior Manager Systems Engineering, reporting Director of Database Technology Services, will work closely with cross functional teams and leaders within Enterprise Technology Service, Architecture, IT Delivery, and Business to ensure all opportunities to build industry leading database technologies are realized.Responsible for- Technology research and innovation to develop long term roadmap based on emerging trends in database technologies- Fiscal management including the development of annual capital and expense budgets and compliance management- Translating from business requirements to technical solution recommendations- Define the process and best practices for managing users, platforms, and the intake process- Manage priorities, tools, and infrastructure within the database platform- Communicate strategy, roadmap, risks, and mitigation plans to stakeholders- Develop procedures to enable proactive planning and expansion of infrastructure based on usage and adoption- Define and implement success metrics for databases and adoption in partnership with IT and business owners- Estimate work, plan, build and manage the team and deliver on milestones- Create messaging for the right audience, including technical, non-technical, and at varying levels, including executives- Manage issues/risks/dependencies for delivering on key milestones for platform and user enablement- Publish best practices, decision tree on database platform selection, and define the strategic roadmap- Support user onboarding, training, adoption activities, and ensure appropriate and timely training.- Collaborate and establish communication with business, analytics, and IT stakeholders.- Accountable and responsible for adherence to Problem and Change Management processes including escalation procedures for critical problems- Select, develop and evaluate staff. Determine appropriate staffing levels. Realign organizational structure when appropriate- Provide leadership/direction for major projects assigned- Communicate project plans and provide overall direction and department goals- Set direction and standards for implementation of new technology as defined by CVS Health architectural Standards- Align technology currency with business objectives- Monitor vendor activity to ensure service levels are acceptable, taking action when appropriateSkills You Bring:- Strong skills in design and solution engineering across cloud (GCP, Azure) and on-prem infrastructure- Understanding of architecture patterns to enable scalable solutions for analytics, data management, and engineering, and business intelligence- Deep understanding of data lifecycle management (operational databases, warehouses, integration and governance, pipelining, analytics enablement, and reporting)- Critical thinker with the ability to make decisions on technology aligned to business needs for analytics and data engineering functions- Highly motivated, independent worker with a pulse on industry trends and best practices Please note this position is available from any state in the United States.Pay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 115,000Maximum: 230,000Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.Required Qualifications10+ years' experience managing database management teams- 5+ years' experience as a leader of a Healthcare/Retail company- Proven track record in managing large, multiple, complex and integrated database and development projects- Extensive knowledge of the system development life cycle, systems, and application development alternativesPreferred QualificationsExperience in database administration, engineering, and architecting- Experience as a leader of a Healthcare/Retail company- Experience in database identity access and vulnerability management- Experience in Application development- Experience in systems analysis and application development- Experience in various Database technologies, such as NoSQL, Data Caching, and Graph data, to name a few.- Proven leadership experience setting strategic direction and influencing change that resulted in quantifiable positive outcomesEducationBachelor's degree required.Master's degree preferred.Business OverviewBring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health.
