Design Solutions (25%) Executes high quality design solutions with limited or no supervision Delivers engineering design excellence Leads development of design concepts Develops detailed product documentation that supports high quality production Electronics design expertise including but not limited to analog and digital circuit design, PCBs, microcontrollers, sensors, motors, and power supplies Ability to perform PCB layout design or modifications for products using PCB design software Analog, digital, & microcontroller design using schematic capture software Hands-on experience with electronics development and test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies Ability to design, program, prototype, troubleshoot, and test small and medium sized electronics products Embedded language programming at prototype and proof-of-concept levels. Knowledge of RS232, SPI, I2C, USB, Bluetooth, and WiFi Ability to work with and lead a team Ability to accurately interpret and drive implementation of changes in design based on feedback from management and/or client 2. Research (20%) Leads and participates in project research and brainstorming teams Attends and participates in meetings with clients Objectively observes and understands user research inputs Participates in usability tests in order to discover design requirements and validate design concepts Participates in observational research as needed to uncover unmet needs 3. Performance Management (20%) Checks work of other engineers and designers Leads and mentors subordinate engineers and designers Supports management of scope, schedule and cost Assumes the role of technical leader on assigned projects 4. Quality (15%) Delivers flawless deliverables to client Presents to internal and external audiences Manages deliverables and timing for self and for team Understands and delivers products that meets Kaleidoscope's standards and when appropriate, international standards and regulations 5. Business Development (10%) Leads the development of proposals and sizing's for minor projects or as part of a team on larger projects 6. Continuous Improvement (10%) Stays abreast of new and evolving technologies Maintains expertise in advanced electronics design and programming skills and makes recommendations for investments in skills and technology Recommends process changes to improve quality, cost, and scheduleThis job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and other management as required. QUALIFICATIONSEducation/Experience Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Minimum BSEE or related degree from an accredited university 6-15 years full-time engineering experienceSkills/Specialized Knowledge/Abilities Understanding of latest tools, design practices, and programming languages Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proficient in documentation and specification writing Demonstrated ability to quickly synthesize and drive towards appropriate solutions Basic project management experience Proven experience in project ownership and accountability Skilled at leading, planning, coordinating, and directing the work of design teams Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications: (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook) Detailed oriented work style and service Advanced ability to work and think in a methodical and logical way Advanced ability to prioritize and complete tasks to deliver desired outcomes within allotted time frames Advanced ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients Critical thinker demonstrated by checking thinking for clarity, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, significance, logic, and fairness.
