Company :Highmark HealthJob Description :SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has the goal of providing the opportunity to acquire practical experience through direct exposure to the related business line(s) and to develop the next generation of diverse business professionals. To that end, the program will provide hands-on training and experience in the business line, expose the various career opportunities in the business line and related areas, and prepare participants for positions in the business.Typical responsibilities include, providing services to the day-to-day operating objectives of the assigned area, participating in projects and programs appropriate to the needs of the assigned area, participating in the planning and implementation of projects and initiatives, conducting research and reporting including recommendations or proposals for action.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSFull or part-time enrollment in an accredited college or university baccalaureate program.Learning Objectives:Familiarity with New York State Department of Financial Services Model Audit Rule (similar to Sarbanes-Oxley).Understanding the importance of financial controls.An opportunity to obtain a general understanding of the various aspects of the Highmark Enterprise Risk & Governance department.Development of basic accounting and analytical skills which can be applied to future work.An opportunity to interact with employees from all levels, including management, and from various departments within the enterprise, exposing the intern to many facets of the health insurance industry.Job Duties may include the following processes as they relate to corporate financial controls:Participation in internal controls testing assessment with operational business pletion of testing workpapers and documentation of results.Review and updating of documentation of processes as they relate to enterprise financial controls.Working with internal audit and external audit partners as needed.Assisting with projects as assigned (e.g. development of dashboards and debit/credit analysis).Required Skills and experience:Students entering junior or senior year in the Fall of 2022 who are enrolled in a 4- or 5-year degree program in Accounting (students entering their Senior year preferred). Current graduate students pursuing Accounting program encouraged to tern must be enrolled in a degree program for the duration of the internship (through May 2023).Desire to pursue CPA or CIA certification strongly preferred.Prior experience in an office setting is desirable.Excellent time management skills, demonstrated personal accountability and excellent verbal & written termediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word. Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS1. Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from senior personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.3.Undertake and/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization.4.
