Job DescriptionCounsel will support Aetna's operations in certain Midwestern states by: providing legal guidance,interpretation, advice, and recommendations for actionto internal stakeholders and senior/executivemanagement regarding federal/state insurance andmanaged-care laws and regulations in the healthcareindustry; serving as a subject matter expert by providinglegal advice and interpretation of new legalrequirements, as well as applicability to Aetna products(including Medicaid products); and providing legal adviceand recommendations for action to executives andmanagement regarding matters of increasing complexitythat have a sizable dollar impact on business activitiesand operations.Responsibilities & Duties:-- Provides legal, public-policy, and business counselingwith respect to prospective, new, and existing businessactivities, including Aetna's commercial insurance andMedicaid business-- Analyzes applicable state insurance and/or managed care laws, regulations, and sub-regulatory guidance andadvises internal business clients on the correspondingimpact upon Aetna's business, products, and services-- Conducts legal research, translates businessrequirements into plain language, and documents anddistributes legal summaries and recommendations forinternal business clients-- Reviews and drafts legal correspondence, contracts,regulatory submissions, and other legal documents-- Establishes and maintains constructive regulatoryrelationships and represents Aetna in proceedings withthe state insurance and Medicaid regulators-- Drafts and reviews legal correspondence, contracts,regulatory submissions, and other legal documents-- Serves as a resource to other lawyers in the LawDepartment with respect to matters of state or federallaw and regulations-- Protects and promotes the interests of Aetna, itscustomers, and shareholders-- Collaborates with other subject matter experts,including Product Counsel, Government Affairs, Privacy,and Regulatory CompliancePay RangeThe typical pay range for this role is:Minimum: 120,000Maximum: 265,000Please keep in mind that this range represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual salary offer will take into account a wide range of factors, including location.Required Qualifications-- 5+ years of post-bar experience in a law firm and/orin-house/corporate setting.-- Admitted to practice law in a Midwestern state (orable to waive into the bar of those states) and in goodstanding of applicable bar association(s).-- Ability to travel up to 5%COVID RequirementsCOVID-19 Vaccination RequirementCVS Health requires certain colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including any booster shots if required), where allowable under the law, unless they are approved for a reasonable accommodation based on disability, medical condition, religious belief, or other legally recognized reasons that prevents them from being vaccinated.
