Job DescriptionAetna's Business Information Solutions (BIS) team is looking for a highly motivated business analyst to join our talented team in driving the requirements and delivery of our new analytics tool, ART. ART provides an intuitive and simple user experience which allows users to engage directly and visually with data. It unlocks access to powerful insights that allows us to reinvent how we serve our customers. BIS partners with business owners, end-users and developers to optimize the achievement of strategic business objectives. Working under the supervision of the Directors of Business Solutions and Data Solutions, the successful candidate will support the development of employer-facing analytic content and reporting by researching and understanding a variety of data sources, using that data knowledge to document business requirements, and reconciling content to ensure it meets the business need and metrics produce expected results. Components of the role include: Responsible for challenging projects involving multiple data sources and tasks.. Develops project plans and timelines. Collaborates with business partners in the design and execution of information/data solutions to answer business questions and support short and long-term objectives. Responsible for the successful translation of business needs into documentation used by technical teams to build analytic solutions. Evaluates the data needs of assigned projects and assures the availability and integrity of data sources. Works with business partners and BIS product solution managers to resolve data gaps and availability issues. Responsible for the successful creation of the data plan to support metric reconciliation and the use of that data to support validation of developed content. Develops and participates in presentations and consultations to business partners by serving as a content subject matter expert Stays informed about industry trends, research findings and evaluation methods. Responsible for project commitments to quality and on-time deliverables. Understands business requirements and probes into data discrepancies and technical details. Contributes to a motivated work environment by working effectively to achieve common goals. Under direction, executes analyses to meet project needs. BIS is a business unit within Aetna's Plan Sponsor Insights (PSI) business. PSI is focused on providing insights based on analytics to customers. SQL and data extraction abilities in data warehouse or big data analytics environment, or in business intelligence application development. Knowledge of other reporting platforms such as: Business Objects, Microsoft Access, web development technology, big data analytics, Visual Basic to support business requirement development and content validation. Understanding of relational databases, data systems and data warehouses, as well as the ability to work with large data sets from multiple data sources for purposes of data investigation. Knowledge of analytic programming tools and methods (SAS, SQL, OLAP, Business Objects, Crystal) to support business requirement development and content validation. Ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non- technical clients in written and verbal form. Able to make sound decisions and recommendations to drive business solutions.
