Job DescriptionTransformative role for a technology-forward accounting leader looking for continued growth and progression opportunities in a large public Company, leading a team of individuals in centralizing and automating the preparation and filing of Aetna's statutory financial statements. This role provides exposure to a vast spectrum of accounting areas, including financial reporting and financial statement preparation and review, technical accounting, transformation, and financial analytics. This role provides extensive opportunity to partner with Aetna's various business units, transform its statutory financial reporting process, work with its state regulators and examiners, and liaise with its audit partners. Job responsibilities include: Lead a team of senior and staff accountants to centralize and automate statutory reporting. Work with team to pull data from disparate sources and statutory-specific journal entries to finalize the trial balance. Manage numerous (and various) types of reporting - both external and management-reporting. Supporting the transition from the Oracle ledger to S4 Hana ledger through data validation, building reports, providing guidance and training on S4 Hana to colleagues as necessary, and communicating updates/progress of the transition to leadership. Help supervise staff and unit priorities to ensure consistent, timely and accurate completion of job responsibilities and meet and exceed department goals. Manage projects and processes to meet filing deadlines and internal goals. Ability to engage immediately and willingness to lead high profile projects with minimal supervision. Fast paced, multi-tasking environment with fixed deadlines and limited project plan flexibilityThis position is Work From Home Flexible, meaning, the team will be working on a hybrid basis both in-office and work from home. Therefore the ideal candidate needs to be able to commute to the Hartford, CT office at least twice a week.Required QualificationsThe ideal candidate would have 6 or more years of progressive accounting, auditing, or financial reporting experience, with a track record of leading and implementing process change.
