Job DescriptionCVS Health is seeking an experienced sales and use tax professional with a demonstrated ability to contribute in the identification and delivery of strategic tax savings opportunities and a proven ability to navigate and collaborate with multiple stakeholders in a large and complex organization. As a Tax Analyst, Indirect Controversy in the CVS Health Tax Department, you will report to the Senior Advisor, Indirect Controversy. Your primary responsibilities include supporting all transaction tax audits for all legal entities under the CVS corporate umbrella nationwide. You will prepare audit ready packages while collaborating with all groups within the Indirect Tax department including compliance, item file, sales tax, and use tax. You will also identify opportunities to meaningfully reduce tax expense and improve operating results, determining the proper taxation of goods and services purchased and sold. Also, you will communicate audit results directly with the Indirect Tax team on a real time basis to implement immediate system improvement. You will partner with colleagues in the Tax and Finance organizations and in our business units and assist in the management of service providers. Success in this role requires a passion for being on a high-performing team, an appetite for change and a low tolerance for the status quo.Additional responsibilities of this role include:-Review, research, understand and determine the appropriate taxability of the goods and services being purchased and sold in a timely and accurate manner.-Assist the Indirect tax team when resource constraints are introduced due to tight deadlines, priority items, and month end responsibilities.-Embrace the use of artificial intelligence, data visualization or other tools to review and monitor tax determination results in our proprietary billing and other systems that are integrated with Thompson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination System.-Utilize data analytics or other tools to evaluate the appropriateness of use tax accruals on purchases using SAP S/4, Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination system and other accounting and tax systems.-Prepare tax account reconciliations for accuracy and timeliness, and develop recommendations for automation or other process improvements.Required Qualifications2 or more years of indirect tax experience (public or private)COVID RequirementsCOVID-19 Vaccination RequirementCVS Health requires certain colleagues to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (including any booster shots if required), where allowable under the law, unless they are approved for a reasonable accommodation based on disability, medical condition, religious belief, or other legally recognized reasons that prevents them from being vaccinated. Please note that in some states and roles, you may be required to provide proof of full vaccination or an approved reasonable accommodation before you can begin to actively work.Preferred Qualifications-3 or more years of recent experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-oriented tax department or similar working environment.-Experience with process automation, improvements and standardization, ensuring enhanced controls, and delivering timely, high-quality results.-Analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills, including a deep understanding of US retail sales taxability concepts.-Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and tactfully, both verbally and in writing, successfully translating always-complex tax rules for business partners and customers.-Ability to work with a high degree of independence with accuracy and high attention to detail.-Working knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, Ariba, Servicechannel, as well as SAP S/4, Tririga, and Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Determination (experience with Vertex or SOVOS will be less directly applicable, but still relevant), as well as Tableau, PowerBI and SQLEducationBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or BusinessBusiness OverviewAt CVS Health, we are joined in a common purpose: helping people on their path to better health.
