Job Summary & Responsibilities The Legal Division is looking for a talented, problem-solving attorney to join the team responsible for advising the firm’s Marquee business line within the Global Markets Division. Marquee is Goldman Sachs’ digital platform delivering market intelligence, data, risk analytics, and trade execution to institutional investors globally, across multiple asset classes. These solutions transform client experiences while generating new revenue streams and business models. The Marquee Attorney position offers a unique opportunity to partner with and advise a dynamic digital business on challenging commercial, intellectual property, and regulatory matters, engage directly with GS clients, and support the continuing growth and expansion of Marquee. The Marquee team of engineers, designers, product managers and salespeople, along with legal and compliance, collaborate to drive progress within digital finance. Principal Responsibilities Advise on the operation, expansion, and marketing of the Marquee platform and services, including legal and regulatory analysis of new initiatives across digital services (data, analytics, and content) and asset classes (stocks, bonds, indices, derivatives, interest rate, and fx products) delivered through UIs and APIs. Draft commercial agreements for Marquee services, negotiate directly with clients (e.g., hedge funds and asset managers) on service terms, and advise the business on key issues such as intellectual property, liability and U.S. and cross-border regulatory implications, including MiFID II and Investment Advisors Act of 1940. Partner with the firm’s technology and contracts legal and vendor management teams on licensing and market data analysis. Work with outside counsel on novel legal issues that arise in the development of new digital services initiatives and expansion of the Marquee user base. Collaborate across control groups to drive execution and ensure consistency in risk management. Required Qualifications 3+ years’ legal experience post JD. Experience in commercial contracting for data, software, digital platforms, or other technology services, especially in the financial products or financial services space. Knowledge of commercial and intellectual property law and broker-dealer regulation, including Securities Exchange Act and SEC Rules and FINRA Rules. Preferred Qualifications Outstanding law firm credentials and/or relevant in-house experience at financial services or FinTech companies. Excellent organizational skills, responsiveness, and efficiency, with the ability to manage numerous simultaneous projects under tight deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work successfully with a diverse range of stakeholders including sales teams, product managers, engineering/technical teams, and legal specialists across the global team. Familiarity with additional regulatory areas also desirable, including Investment Advisors Act, CFTC Rules, Dodd Frank, and data security/protection. Location New York or Dallas.
