EXECUTIVE OFFICEThe Executive Office plays an integral role in setting and advancing Goldman Sachs’ corporate strategy, and in preserving the firm’s distinctive culture. We are responsible for safeguarding the firm’s relationship with alumni, clients, shareholders, policy makers, and the broader public, while ensuring that our own people remain informed about the firm’s evolving priorities. We also partner with the businesses to source high-impact opportunities in line with the firm’s social and sustainability agendas.About Goldman Sachs MarketingLed by the firm’s first Chief Marketing Officer, the marketing function at Goldman Sachs is backed by momentum and a broad imperative to unify the discipline, helping to codify a business-critical function seen as core to the firm’s future growth. As such, GS is focused on building out a data-and-technology enabled team of growth marketers, delivering value for the brand and the business. The organization will consist of COE teams in the Executive Office including Brand Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Transformation, Content, and Media, as well marketing teams for each of our revenue divisions. Together, this function will collaborate to build a unified, scalable, and consistent approach to marketing the brand and its offerings. Our mission is to be a demonstrable force multiplier for the businesses we serve.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESAs the Analyst/Associate, Brand Strategy for Goldman Sachs, you will partner with members of the Global Marketing team to build an exceptional brand that reflects the firm’s ambitious future. You will work across a portfolio that includes brand strategy, brand architecture, naming, and messaging for both the parent brand and the four revenue divisions. This role is on a new COE team focused on elevating our brand through strategic messaging and visual execution across the firm, in service of building a strong and consistent brand globally. In this role, you will support VP and MD team members in the creation of enterprise-level messaging, as well as strategic positioning for areas of business across the firm. This team is also responsible for developing and implementing new names and visual systems for our products and services. The role requires a person who is a big-picture thinker, with experience in brand strategy and planning, strong project management skills, and comfort leading agency partnerships. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and an organized multi-tasker who can bring fresh new ideas, push strategic thinking forward, and embody an authoritative voice to guide decisions in service of a world-class brand.You will be contributing to high priority marketing strategy projects that may include:Developing strategic creative briefs and crafting key presentation content Contributing to the creation of strategic narratives that bring the firm’s commercial activities to life for a growing range of audiences Supporting the development and rollout of brand architecture workProject management and support for visual identity execution firmwideBranding new entries to market, with comfort developing audits for in and out-of-category competitors, naming reviews and brainstorm sessions, development of strategic positioning and messaging, and oversight of visual execution.Interfacing regularly with internal and external partners, including strategic agency partnersCORE COMPETENCIESIndustry ExpertiseClient or agency-side Strategic Planning experience, preferably with a large B2B or B2C brand Demonstrable belief in and passion for the power of brand to drive commercial, cultural, and societal impactFunctional Expertise1-5 years in brand development, strategy, or planning roles Brand fluency in creating and/or supporting strategic narratives, frameworks, naming, and visual executionExperience supporting brand integration through research, analytics and marketing effortsComfort working within a matrixed and/or multi-divisional organization with multiple target audiences and business objectives laddering up to a parent brand strategyPersonal Disposition:Diligent and organized, with the ability to balance multiple priority workstreamsOffers creative ideas and takes constructive feedback with easeWorks well in a collaborative environmentStrong listener and capable writer with exceptional attention to detail Skill in distilling complex challenges and content into simple, straightforward ideas and language Highly adaptable and fluid, able to quickly learn about new businesses and customer segmentsABOUT GOLDMAN SACHSAt Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
