We extend these global capabilities to the world’s leading pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, endowments, foundations, individuals and family offices.The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group The Alternative Investments & Manager Selection (AIMS) Group resides within AMD and is Goldman Sachs' dedicated manager selection business, covering solutions across private equity, real estate, credit/fixed income, ESG integrated strategies, public equity and hedge funds. We manage globally diversified programs, targeted sector-specific strategies, customized portfolios and a range of advisory services. Our investors generally access opportunities through new fund commitments, secondary market investments, co-investments, seed capital investments, investment manager equity/ revenue share stakes, or fund-of-fund solutions. The AIMS Group is one of the world's broadest, deepest and longest-standing 'open-architecture' programs, investing or advising on over $250bn.The AIMS - Opportunistic Co-Investment team specializes in making co-investments with leading alternatives managers across the capital structure in public and private debt and equity, structured finance, leveraged loans, high yield and distressed. We have an opportunistic investment mandate which allows us to pursue situations that we believe offer the most attractive risk/reward at any given time. We typically aim to hold positions over the medium to long term and seek equity-like returns through investments in a variety of financial instruments across the capital structure. The investment team is primarily composed of fundamental, bottom-up research-driven investors. The team sources co-investments from external alternative managers that AIMS has a relationship with. The role is at the Vice President level. THE ROLEThis is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join a growing team in a fast-paced and high performance environment. The successful applicant will work directly with senior members of the Opportunistic Co-Investment team to source and underwrite complex investment transactions and execute deals across various funds, single asset and other bespoke strategies. The successful applicant will challenge and develop his/her technical skills and expand his/her industry network given the broad range of investment processes he/she will be involved in, within a top-tier global financial institution.The successful applicant will be a member of the New York-based team, evaluating and managing investments across the Americas and Europe, assisting senior team members to make investment decisions, and training, coaching and supervising junior team members.RESPONSIBILITIESConduct fundamental research on companies and sectors Carry out in-depth valuation work and analysis of risk-return opportunities in special situationsHelp in monitoring/hedging current investments Contribute to idea generation Develop relationships with external alternative managers to source investment ideas QUALIFICATIONSInvesting mindset, ability to think independently about an investment, understanding of portfolio construction Strong corporate valuation skills and familiarity with various types of assets, securities or instruments such as equities, loans and bondsStrong modeling and accounting skillsFive years of experience preparing financial models and valuation analyses of public or private companies with a minimum of four years of experience in buyside investing roles A background in public or private credit, structured finance or distressed investing is preferred but candidates with a background in equity special situations will also be considered Outstanding record of professional and academic achievement ABOUT GOLDMAN SACHSAt Goldman Sachs, we commit our people, capital and ideas to help our clients, shareholders and the communities we serve to grow.
