Senior Project Manager (Energy & Infrastructure)

*Project Manager (Energy & Infrastructure)**Primary Purpose of Position*Manage (or support a Principal or Senior Project Manager with the management of) transmission, substation, distribution, gas, and/or information technology projects involving cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines. This role is responsible for overseeing or supporting project scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance for multiple projects and programs. The Project Manager will lead or assist teams through business case/capital approval processes, project planning, execution, and closeout. Project budgets typically range from $250K to $5 million.This position may require extended hours during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.*Primary Duties & Responsibilities** Lead or support project and program performance across transmission, substation, distribution, gas, IT, and organizational initiatives.* Ensure project costs, schedules, scope, and risks are managed effectively, including developing recovery plans when needed.* Interface with external and internal stakeholders to align project requirements and execution.* Foster strong working relationships with team members, line managers, internal departments, and contract service providers.* Serve as the primary communicator with project sponsors and key stakeholders, including executive-level reporting and interdepartmental presentations.* When leading projects, identify and secure project team resources; when supporting larger projects, assist in ensuring team resources are in place.* Mentor and guide project team members to ensure clear understanding of responsibilities and timely task completion.*Job Scope*The Project Manager is responsible for leading or supporting various infrastructure and technology projects. This role involves active management of performance, scope, budget, and scheduling while providing structured reporting to senior leadership. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:* Completing business cases, budget approvals, project scheduling, and financial analysis.* Coordinating requirements engineering, design, vegetation management, and environmental reviews.* Managing major equipment procurement, obtaining real estate, and collaborating with external agencies.* Engaging with customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and governmental officials.* Providing detailed progress reports and structured updates to leadership teams.*Minimum Qualifications** For construction project management: Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience, OR in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma and 3-6 years of relevant experience.* For non-construction project management: Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience, OR in lieu of a degree, High School Diploma and 3-6 years of relevant experience.* Strong ability to build consensus, establish trust, and communicate effectively.* Ability to work independently and lead teams, managing conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment.* Proven leadership, communication, and presentation skills.* Demonstrated experience improving processes, technology integration, and operational efficiencies.* Strong judgment, time management, and project management skills.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project) and other project management tools.* Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.*Preferred Qualifications** Experience or knowledge in utility design, planning, construction, or IT project management.* CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) or PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.* Demonstrated proficiency in managing infrastructure and energy-related projects.* Strong understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and performance metrics reporting.Job Types: Full-time, ContractPay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hourExpected hours: 40 per weekBenefits:* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Life insurance* Vision insuranceSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Monday to FridayWork Location: Hybrid remote in Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181
