OverviewTo research, evaluate, design, implement, and maintain system and product solutions, applying knowledge of engineering principles. To provide technical direction and engineering support for projects and infrastructure. Develop and maintain advanced functional knowledge of evolving IT engineering industry technologies, concepts, and trends.ResponsibilitiesExpand and maintain the networking environment as necessary by establishing system configurations, directing system installation, and defining, documenting and enforcing system standardsPlan, test, and implement upgrades to data network equipmentEstablish configuration standards, as well as configure routing, and switching equipmentMaximizes network performance, troubleshoots network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimizationSecures network system by enforcing policiesReporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projectsFull life-cycle project managementEstablish and lead project teamsDevelop project plan/scope/schedule/cost/communicationsProcure and/or manage resources/timelines/deadlines/qualityRisk, Issue and Change managementEnsure successful project implementationScope of responsibilityLead, guide and mentor less experienced staffProvide input and make budgetary recommendations regarding staffing and equipmentApply engineering principles into the design and enhancement of new and existing systemsDocument new system components, or modifications to existing componentsEnsure the security and integrity of system and product solutions including compliance with Navy Federal, industry engineering and Information Security principles and practicesPerform engineering tasks and assignments in support of business needsPerform engineering technology research, procurement, deployment, and configuration for new and modified systemsProvide technical leadership in the architecture discipline and development of information technology solutionsPresent clear, organized and concise information to all audiences through a variety of media to enable effective business decisionsPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor's Degree in an Information Technology field or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experienceWorking knowledge of general network technologies including Routing and SwitchingRouting protocol function, operations and troubleshootingAbility to learn new technologies using a mix of self-study and some formal trainingGood troubleshooting skills for current technology as well as new technologies as we grow our skillsetsSoftware Defined Wide Area Network ( SD-WAN ) experience requiredAbility and willingness to grow skillset for SD-WAN and related technologies such as Cloud Interconnect and Cloud Security services for deployment and traffic flow engineeringWorking knowledge of engineering disciplineTracking Budget ExpensesProject ManagementProblem SolvingLAN KnowledgeNetwork Design and ImplementationNetwork TroubleshootingNetwork Hardware ConfigurationNetwork Performance TuningPeople ManagementAdvanced research, analytical, and problem solving skillsAdvanced verbal and written communication skillsAdvanced word processing and spreadsheet software skillsEffective organizational, planning and time management skillsEffective skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisionsEffective skill guiding and training less experienced staffDesired QualificationsCCNPCCIE (Datacenter, Security)Other IT certificationsHours: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PMLocation: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180 | 5510 Heritage Oaks Drive, Pensacola, FL 32526 | 141 Security Drive, Winchester, VA 22602 | 9999 Willow Creek Road, San Diego, CA 92131About UsNavy Federal provides much more than a job.
