As a *U.S. Patent Prosecution Specialist*, you will play a key role in *portfolio management, USPTO filings, and client communications*, ensuring compliance with *patent laws, firm policies, and client requirements*. This position offers the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with attorneys and colleagues to *deliver exceptional patent prosecution support*.This position is available in any of the following office locations: *Boston (BOS), Chicago (CH), Washington, D.C. (DC), Los Angeles (LA), New York (NY), or San Francisco (SF).**What You'll Do**U.S. Patent Prosecution & Portfolio Management** *USPTO Filings*: Prepare and electronically file a variety of documents with the *U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)*, including:* Patent applications* Preliminary/312 amendments* Responses to notices* Petitions* Information disclosure statements (IDS)* Issue fees and related correspondence* *Client Documentation & Communication*:* Prepare and forward *client reporting letters* regarding *USPTO communications and filings*.* Draft and send *formalities notices* and deadline reminders to clients.* Generate and manage documents requiring client execution, such as *declarations, assignments, and powers of attorney*.* *Quality Control & Compliance*:* Review application papers before USPTO submission to verify *inventor details, assignees, priority data, and filing accuracy*.* Ensure compliance with *USPTO rules, U.S. patent laws, and client-specific policies*.* Maintain organized *workflows, deadlines, and docket entries* for assigned clients.* *Billing & Time Entry*: Track and record *billable time* associated with prosecution tasks, ensuring accurate and timely entries.*What You Bring**Skills That Set You Apart** *Patent Expertise*: Deep understanding of *U.S. patent prosecution laws, USPTO procedures, and electronic filing platforms*.* *Meticulous Attention to Detail*: Ability to review and process complex legal documents *with accuracy and efficiency*.* *Proactive & Organized*: Ability to manage *multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work independently*.* *Problem-Solving Mindset*: Strong *judgment and decision-making* skills to anticipate challenges and resolve issues effectively.* *Exceptional Communication*: Ability to communicate professionally *with attorneys, staff, and clients* at all levels.* *Technical Proficiency*: Familiarity with *patent docketing databases*, USPTO online platforms, and *Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint preferred)*.*Education & Experience** *Education*: *Four-year college degree preferred*; relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.* *Experience*: *Minimum 2 years of experience in U.S. patent prosecution* in a law firm or IP-focused environment.This position is ideal for a *detail-oriented professional* seeking an opportunity to *enhance efficiency, maintain compliance, and support patent prosecution efforts* for a distinguished intellectual property team.Job Type: Full-timePay: $70,000.00 - $102,000.00 per yearBenefits:* 401(k)* Dental insurance* Health insurance* Paid time off* Vision insuranceSchedule:* Monday to FridayEducation:* Bachelor's (Preferred)Experience:* patent prosecution: 2 years (Required)Ability to Commute:* Washington, DC 20006 (Required)Work Location: Hybrid remote in Washington, DC 20006
