Estimator (Grading Projects Focus)Job Title: EstimatorLocation: Columbia, SC (Travel required within SC, NC, and GA)Salary: $90K to $120K per year.Type: In-OfficeSchedule: Full-timeContract Type: PermanentJob Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Estimator with a minimum of 2 years of experience in civil construction estimating, specifically in grading projects. The ideal candidate must have expertise in grading (ground leveling for site preparation), heavy civil construction, site work, utilities, drainage systems, and road projects. This role requires preparing detailed cost estimates, analyzing project risks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.Key Responsibilities:Prepare accurate cost estimates for grading and site work projects ranging from $500K to $10M.Assess and price self-performed grading tasks, including labor, equipment, and materials.Develop precise estimates from conceptual to final contract stages, ensuring accuracy in project planning.Evaluate site conditions, earthwork requirements, and grading specifications to determine project feasibility.Identify constructability issues and propose value-engineering alternatives for site grading.Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, and management to ensure seamless project execution.Review and interpret grading plans, topographic surveys, and blueprints to develop comprehensive estimates.Required Skills and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Estimator in heavy civil grading projects.Expertise in grading (ground leveling for site preparation) is a must.Proficiency in construction software like Agtek, Trimble Business Center, Carlson, or CAD for grading estimates.Experience with HCSS or B2W estimating tools is a plus.Strong understanding of earthwork, grading techniques, and site preparation processes.Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and Adobe for estimate documentation and reporting.Ability to read and interpret grading blueprints, site plans, and topographic data.Exceptional communication and organizational skills to coordinate with teams effectively.Physical Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, and move around for at least eight hours daily.Occasionally required to stoop, bend, walk, crouch, and climb.Capable of lifting 50 lbs. frequently and carrying up to 15 lbs.Ability to work in both office and field environments, including active construction sites.ttg Talent Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer and recruiting agency.
