These can be uploaded on the application under CV/Resume.QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:Associate degree or combination of education and experienceThree years of surgical and office visit coding experience in a dental/medical clinicRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and proprietary practice management softwareUnderstanding of compliance requirements for medical services documentation to support billing and/or appealing claims to payersDetail-oriented, organized, flexible, critical thinkerExcellent communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal)Follows instructionAbility to communicate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to educate and assist with knowledge of medical documentation requirements to achieve coding compliance for billingExpertise in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT)/Current Dental Terminology (CDT)/ICD10/ and plan-specific billing and coding guidelinesKnowledge of residency program compliance documentation/billing guidelinesKnowledge of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)Preferred Qualifications:Medical coding/coder certification, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Associate (CCA)Three years of clinical coding experienceExperience billing and coding for Oral and Maxillofacial SurgeryFamiliarity with eClinicalWorks (electronic health record software)ResponsibilitiesClinical Coding and ComplianceCodes surgery and office visit encounters and creates claims for filing.Uploads medical records to billing company, if needed.Utilizes Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines and other audit tools to monitor the accuracy of clinical coding.Ensures compliance with APC mandates and reviews charts in Patient Management System (PM) for compliance with regulations for billing specific services and residency documentation and signature requirements.Answers questions from facility and residents about coding requirements and communicates problems in coding compliance to manager and interprets data for reimbursement applications.Reviews all claims prior to transmission for accuracy and compliance.Review all progress notes for accuracy and verify complete, with proper provider assigned.Claims Process AdministrationInput surgery and office visit charges daily.Review all OV and surgery charges daily.Downloads Operating Reports from hospital and uploads into patient record.Create patient charts when needed, especially for hospital ER patients.Maintain and utilize Elective Surgery Spreadsheet.Reviews all patients' balances and monitors for patient refunds if needed.Forward accounts to collections as needed.Applies diagnostic and procedures codes to patient health information.Performs data quality reviews on all encounters to validate appropriateness of ICD-10s, or missed secondary diagnosis, CPT and CDT coding.Assures pre-authorization numbers are on all claims filed.Daily transmission of claims to clearinghouse.Follow all Department guidelines as to how records are kept and maintained.Billing/Payment TrackingMay assist with payment posting or other accounts receivable follow-up tasks when needed.Reviews charts placed on hold by billing company for corrections or information that may be required to refile, appeal claim, or advises billing company of other handling procedures necessary specific to issue.Obtains clarification from providers on any conflicting issues, required documentation, or addendums to assign codes and bills statements.Daily review of outstanding AR and work outstanding claims.Patient Account ManagementAnswer, address, assist patients with any billing questions, as needed.Why Texas A&M University?We are a prestigious university with strong traditions, Core Values, and a community of caring and collaboration.Medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, life and AD&D, flexible spending accounts , and long-term disability insurance with Texas A&M contributing to employee health and basic life premiums12-15 days of annual paid holidaysUp to eight hours of paid sick leave and at least eight hours of paid vacation each monthAutomatic enrollment in the Teacher Retirement System of TexasHealth and Wellness: Free exercise programs and release timeProfessional Development: All employees have access to free LinkedIn Learning training, webinars, and limited financial support to attend conferences, workshops, and moreEducational release time and tuition assistance for completing a degree while a Texas A&M employeeLiving Well , a program at Texas A&M that has been built by employees, for employeesInstructions to Applicants: Applications received by Texas A&M University must either have all job application data entered, or a resume attached.
