Staff Accountant - ComplianceNew corporate level position - our Accounting Team is centralizing, expanding!Local Baltimore-Based Candidates ONLY PLEASEFull Time / Exempt - Working out of Baltimore 21227 / or Columbia MD OfficeFocus on operational / administrative management of Business Licenses, Tax / Sales & Use Tax Compliance. This position will support all branches and MASTER TRADES GROUP acquisition / entities. Multi-Entity, Multi-State experience. High Volume, $$MM large company.Ideal candidate will be assertive, task/detail-oriented, great communicator, solid Tech skills with advanced EXCEL and SAGE INTAACT, enjoy independent work and be self-driven in the ownership of this category, and be very adaptable to change and growth (like when we buy the next company - all the FP&A changes needed to support the transition to Corporate MTG!)The objective of the Staff Accountant, Compliance role is to ensure the organization remains compliant with business licensing and tax registration requirements across multiple jurisdictions. This position involves managing business licenses, tax permits, and regulatory filings while supporting tax compliance processes to mitigate risks and maintain good standing with regulatory authorities. Additionally, this role will contribute to establishing strong processes that support the company's growth and will have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as the business expands. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong sense of ownership in their responsibilities and take initiative in identifying and improving other tasks and processes within the organization as they arise in daily operations.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Oversee and manage all business licenses, permits, and sales tax registrations across multiple jurisdictions.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local licensing, tax, and regulatory requirements.Prepare and submit applications for new business licenses, renewals, and tax permits within required deadlines.Monitor tax nexus implications and coordinate registrations as the company expands into new jurisdictions.Stay up to date on licensing and tax regulation changes, advising the organization on compliance obligations.Maintain accurate records of business licenses, tax permits, exemption certificates, and compliance documents.Work closely with tax, finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure proper licensing and tax registrations.Collaborate with government agencies, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies on licensing and tax matters.Serve as the primary point of contact for audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries related to business licenses and tax permits.Support sales tax compliance efforts, including proper collection, reporting, and exemption certificate management.Assist with internal audits and tax compliance reviews to verify adherence to licensing and tax regulations.QUALIFICATIONS/ABILITIES:Ability to understand the integration of multiple data sources and adaptability with technology.Communicate effectively using internal/external customer service. Strong interpersonal, verbal and writing skills.Familiarity with tax software and licensing databasesStrong attention to detail and organizational skills.Strong analytical, investigative and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Ability to learn and understand processes from beginning to end.Ability to maintain confidentiality.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in accounting or three years of experience in the business tax compliance field.Strong integrity and personal initiative, resourcefulness and problem-solving skillsKnowledge of GAAPPREFERRED:Multi-entity, intercompany experienceSage Intacct experience, CSC or CT portalsWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Professional Office EnvironmentMust be able to lift ~50lbsAbility to sit for extended periods of timeBENEFITS:Compensation: Based on experienceBenefits: Standard benefit plan for full-time, regular employeesSCHEDULE:Monday-Friday 8am-5pm; can change as business needs changeEOE2/2025
