COMPENSATION RANGE: Salary range of $60,000-$80,000, based upon experience.THE COMPANY: Real Equity Management (REM) is a privately owned design-build and property management firm based in Columbia, Missouri. For more than 20 years, we have fulfilled community needs by building a diverse commercial and residential real estate portfolio across the Midwest. Over the years, our portfolio has grown to include hotels, restaurants, mixed-use and market-rate communities, in addition to commercial and retail spaces. We remain focused on our plans for growth and currently have several exciting projects under construction and in queue!SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT POSITION: REM is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Senior Staff Accountant to oversee full-cycle accounting for multiple businesses within our real estate portfolio. This role requires strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of real estate accounting, and the ability to manage financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal departments to ensure accurate financial records and contribute to the overall financial health of the company.SENIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:Accounting & Financial ManagementManage full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.Ensure accurate month-end and year-end close processes, preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.Conduct periodic financial reviews and variance analyses, providing insights to management.Revenue, Receivables & Lease AccountingProcess tenant payments across 50+ properties and audit commercial tenant ledgers.Assist with commercial lease setup, ensuring accurate revenue recognition.Calculate and communicate NNN billings, CPI increases, and lease adjustments.Summarize receivables, generate aging reports, and manage bad debt allowances.Work with collections to monitor and follow up on overdue accounts.Compliance & Process ImprovementEnsure compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.Identify and implement accounting process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.Assist with financial reporting inquiries, audits, and tax filings, coordinating with external professionals as needed.SENIOR ACCOUNTANT REQUIREMENTS:PREERRED; Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field required5+ years of General Ledger and financial accounting analysis experienceStrong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft ExcelResults oriented with a sense of urgencyCritical thinking and problem solvingEffective and efficient time management and organization skillsProven record of providing excellent internal and external customer serviceAbility to work cross-departmentally
