Description:The Specialist, Accounts Payable is responsible for maintaining, organizing, and managing the accounts payable function of the organization. The J operates many unique business departments including a fitness center, preschool, summer camp, theater, and a center for senior adults. This position processes more than 10,000 payment transactions per year and assists with other projects to support the accounting department.BenefitsPTO and paid holidays (traditional and Jewish)Free Membership to The J including Fitness | Sports | Aquatics and moreComplimentary and discounted tickets to performances at The White TheatreRetirement plan (with generous employer contribution and match after 1 year)Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, and HSA with employer contributionDiscounts on programming, youth activities, J Camp, enrollment, and morePlus, joining a true communityEssential Functions & Key ResponsibilitiesComplete timely and accurate payment of invoices on a weekly basisReview purchase orders to ensure accuracy of account codingTrain users on purchase order systemReconcile credit card transactions1099 vendor maintenance and annual reportingReconcile vendor statements, research, and correct discrepanciesPrepare and analyze bank account and general ledger account reconciliationsAssist with input of department budgetsPrepare appropriate audit support schedulesMaintain vendor files and documentation in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practicesAssist with other projects as requestedRequirements:2+ years of Accounts Payable experienceHigh school diploma required, college courses in accounting preferredKnowledge of basic accounting principles requiredProficient in Excel and Word and 10-key by touchPossess strong organizational and time management skillsStrong problem-solving skills, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysisThorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable/general ledger systems and procedures, financial chart of accounts and corporate proceduresAbility to communicate and interact effectively with vendors and employees in a professional mannerAbility to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timelinessAbility to maintain confidentialityPhysical RequirementsThis position primarily works in an indoor, office, desk environment. The job involves constant sitting (though standing up as desired is also an option), repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination to operate computer, mouse, keyboard or similar equipment for data entry and related daily work.
