You will develop and implement strategic plans to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, safeguarding Dungarvin's operations, financial stability, and reputation. As the Risk Manager, you will also provide leadership and oversight for the organization's property and casualty (P&C) insurance programs, collaborating with business units to develop effective risk management strategies.Key responsibilities include leading a team to achieve risk management objectives, directing insurance programs, overseeing loss control activities, identifying potential exposures, recommending mitigation solutions, and promoting loss prevention efforts. The Risk Manager will also provide leadership in areas such as workers' compensation, safety initiatives, and claims resolution, ensuring compliance and efficiency.Team Oversight:Claims Management Specialist: Oversees claims administration and insurance claims resolution.Health and Safety Specialist: Develops safety programs and risk mitigation strategies.Insurance Administrator: Manages insurance renewals and compliance requirements.Responsibilities:Oversee claims management, including workers' compensation, auto, liability, and property claims.Lead and manage the organization's property and casualty insurance program.Develop and implement risk management solutions, including insurance coverage, safety practices, business continuity plans, and recovery measures.Lead and participate in safety committee meetings to ensure effective risk reduction strategies.Review, develop, and implement risk management policies, training programs, and compliance protocols, making recommendations for improvements.Drafting and presenting risk reports and proposals to executive leadership.Build and manage relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, legal counsel, and external vendors.Conduct risk assessments, analyzing documentation, statistics, and market trends to develop proactive risk mitigation strategies.Monitoring regulatory and legal changes impacting risk and compliance efforts.Acting as the primary escalation point for complex claims, risk issues, and compliance matters.Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability across the organization.QualificationsMUST HAVE:Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Occupational Safety, or a related field.7+ years of progressive experience in commercial insurance, risk management, underwriting, brokerage, claims management, and risk mitigation, with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.Proven ability to manage relationships with external insurance vendors.Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to identify and mitigate risk trends.PREFERRED:Certifications: OSHA, safety, and environmental health certifications.Industry-Specific Certifications: Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), or CLCU, Certified Professional in Health Care Risk Management (CPHRM)Industry experience: Human or social services.Additional InformationSKILLS CRITICAL TO SUCCESS:Leadership & Team Development: Strong coaching and mentoring skills to guide and support a team of three new staff members.Workplace Safety & Compliance: In-depth knowledge of workplace safety and health, including OSHA regulations, injury prevention strategies, and safety policies and procedures.Strategic Risk Management: Oversight of Dungarvin's risk management program, across 15 states, 7,000 + staff and persons served.Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Ability to navigate changing priorities, and evolving regulations with a proactive and flexible approach.Financial & Analytical Skills: Expertise in risk assessment, budget management, and financial planning for insurance portfolios.Communication & Critical Thinking: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to facilitate discussions, present findings, and apply critical thinking to problem-solving.Influence & Collaboration: Organizational savvy to engage, persuade, and collaborate with staff across all departments and locations, aligning risk management strategies with Dungarvin's mission and goals.At Dungarvin, diversity and inclusion are a part of what makes our organization strong.
