The Reinsurance Accounting Specialist is primarily responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial operations related to ceded and assumed reinsurance. This position will require strong technical knowledge of reinsurance processes, a solid background in accounting, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely results. The Reinsurance Specialist will work closely with internal teams and broker partners, ensuring efficient billing, collections, and reconciliation processes, as well as supporting the preparation of key financial statements and reports.The success of our company is rooted in teamwork, the way we care about the people we work with and serve. This hybrid role will work in our Raleigh office for a minimum of two days with the flexibility of working from home three days a week.Your WORK as a Reinsurance Accounting Specialist will make a difference by:Prepare and review ceded and assumed reinsurance journal entries, ensuring proper recording and classification.Perform monthly reconciliations and analysis to maintain accurate financial records.Manage reinsurance billing processes, ensuring accurate invoicing and timely collections.Coordinate with internal stakeholders and broker partners as necessary to resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.Assist in the preparation of Annual and Quarterly NAIC statements, ensuring accurate reporting that is in compliance with regulatory requirementsAssess and track collateral requirements for ceded and assumed reinsurance agreements, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.Maintain regular communication with broker partners to facilitate smooth transactions, resolve queries, and ensure the timely flow of information.Provide support for general accounting tasks and assist in statutory reporting functions as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.Perform other duties as assigned.Skills to get the JOB done RIGHT:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 3 years of relevant reinsurance accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with reinsurance accounting systems.Strong understanding of reinsurance principles, accounting practices, and statutory reporting requirements.Analytical mindset with a problem-solving approach.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.WHY YOU'LL LOVE TO WORK HEREBuilders Mutual cares about you, and we offer comprehensive employee benefits built to support your success and wellbeing, including:Market-driven compensation and bonus plan3 weeks of paid time off (and your birthday too!)37.5-hour work week; end your Friday at 2:30 PMBuilders University for employees, dedicated to supporting the development and enhancing expertiseEarn swag and extra time off through peer recognition Builders Bucks programLIFE at Builders MutualCollaboration| You are part of a team working together to reach a common goal.Empowerment| You will feel trusted, valued, and given the resources to be successful.Flexibility| You will be part of a dynamic work environment designed to allow you to do your best work while also creating the best possible customer experience.Impact| You will positively influence our business, customers, and industry.Sense of pride | You will tell others how much you enjoy working at Builders Mutual.
