PURPOSE:The Director of Finance is responsible for the general accounting and reporting,accounts payable and business office functions. Other key responsibilitiesinclude assisting with annual budgeting, financial and business analysis.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:1. Responsible for validating the accuracy of general ledger and financial records2. Records, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events inaccordance with generally accepted accounting principles.3. Prepares designated financial reports on a regularly scheduled basis.Maintains a close working relationship with the contracted Management companyfinance director.4. Reconciles sub-ledgers to the general ledger and reconciles differences.5. Develops financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, andresults analysis.6. Oversees the accounts payable function and ensures that vendor paymentsare made timely.7. Focus on adding value through cost reduction or revenue enhancementstrategies. Serves as a resource person for other department heads, superiors,peers and subordinates for annual budget preparation.8. Coordinates year-end activities including Medicare and Medicaid audits andthe annual financial audit. Supplying information for audit requests.9. Prepares investment account analysis schedules and postings to generalledger.10. Oversees the business office functions and staff to ensure that timely andcorrect Medicare Part A, Part B, Medicaid and Private Pay bills are processed.11. Maintains and coordinates banking relationships.12. Maintains a safe work environment and exhibits safe work practices, assuringresident safety.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:1. Bachelor's degree in accounting with related healthcare accounting andfinance experience. Must possess a thorough knowledge of generally acceptedaccounting principles.2. Minimum of three to five years' accounting and finance experience withgeneral ledger close through financial statement preparation. Previous long-termcare or hospital accounting and finance experience preferred.3. Proficient in Microsoft office applications - specifically Excel and Word, andother key business financial or business management systems.4. Willingness to grow personally and develop staff.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Must be able to sit at a desk for up to six hours per day; must be able to stoop,bend, stretch, and squat to access files and various documentation; must be ableto lift 20 pounds; may be exposed to a constant noise level due to equipmentlocated in the office.NOTE: In maintaining compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA),this job description may be modified or enhanced as needed.OTHER:Efforts have been made to develop a complete job description; however, please beaware that the duties and requirements listed herein are not only duties which youmay be required to perform.
