American Welding and Gas has an excited senior position of Director of Cash Application, Credit & Collection at our HQ's location in Raleigh, NC.Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, the position will be responsible for managing cash applications, credit approval and collection (Order to Cash) by proactively developing, implementing and maintaining systems, procedures and policies in a HighRadius system. This position will optimize sales and service revenue and will minimize bad debt losses by planning and organizing credit extension and collections. Director will lead the order to cash application and reporting functions, as well as developing and growing the team in their roles.Incentives:Medical, Dental, & Vision BenefitsShort-term & Long-term Disability401(k) Retirement Savings PlanPaid HolidaysPaid Time OffBonus eligibleDuties and Responsibilities:ManagementMaintains staff by selecting, leading, evaluating, and developing employeesResponsible for obtaining maximum productivity and effectiveness from employeesProperly motivate the cash application, credit and collection staff to meet goalsMeasure department performance with appropriate metricsManages relations with collection and credit reporting agenciesMaintains exceptional relations with internal departments (sales, corporate legal, billing)Demonstrates highest levels of customer care and professionalism when working with customers' senior management (controller, treasurer, CFO, CEO) and accounts payable teamsCash Application, Credit & Collection OperationIdentify, recommend, implement best practices, policies and proceduresMaintains and monitor adherence to credit/collections policiesManages the cash applications, credit and collection function by developing and communicating long and term-short strategies and objectivesEnsure collection of accounting receivables by establishing, monitoring and ensuring adherence to appropriate processes and controls within the departmentDevelops and implement a credit scoring modelManages customer credit files and customers' application of late feesMonitors the credit granting and updating processPersonally investigate the largest customer credit applicationsMonitor periodic credit reviews and assure prompt turnaround time on all credit requestsMonitor deductions being taken by customersManage customer credit exposure and financial risk to the company by establishing credit limits for customers (analyzing credit reports, financial records, conducting interviews and bank references)Based on the Monthly Aging, collections letters are to be sent to all customers and accounts over 90 days past due receive a Payment Demand Letter with the promise of service interruption if payment is not received within ten business daysManages the collection procedures by contacting customers that are past due, whenever is necessaryWorks closely with the Billing Department to implement processes and policies that contribute to accurate invoicingResponsible for approving and writing off recommendations to management; sending of final demand lettersManages the process of turning of accounts over to an outside Collections AgencyMaintains Bankruptcy files on customers within the assigned Company numbersPrepares documentation necessary to create the Credit or Debit Memo necessary to true up a customer accountOversees and assists with the cleanup of unapplied receipts, short paid invoices and Charge BacksAddressing ongoing customer complaints concerning billing or service rendered and works on complaints of service failures with designated departmentsQualifications & Education Requirements:Bachelor's DegreeProven experience with HighRadius software experience is highly valued.7-10 years of previous management experience7-10 years of previous cash application, credit, collections, and accounts receivable experienceUnderstanding of collections and bankruptcy filingsExperience managing a team both onsite and remote employeesAbility to solve difficult and complex problemsAbility to independently identify and solve problemsStrong skills for organizationStrong computer skills and proficient in use of Windows based computer software and the use of spreadsheetsKnowledge of the laws related to creditAptitude to scrutinize numerical dataAbility to develop creative ideas for process improvement using existing financial systemsPreferred Skills:Experienced mentoring and developing your teamAbility to influence, persuade and negotiate with others to gain acceptance/approval of ideas/conceptsDetail OrientedWork under pressureGood motivation and communication skillsGood judgmentProductivity drivenMay be required to work weekend or extended hours to meet deadlinesAmerican Welding & Gas (AWG) is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial gases as well as a provider of all your welding supply needs.
