Position SummaryThis position is responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position involves a variety of account tasks, including managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling accounts, performing month-end closing processes, and overseeing the payroll process, ensuring employees are paid accurately. Involves calculating salaries, deductions, and withholdings, maintaining payroll records, and compliance with payroll regulations.Reports To: Finance ControllerPrinciple Duties and ResponsibilitiesImplements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing and accounting systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.Calculates payroll liabilities, employee tax withholdings, federal and state income, social security tax, wage garnishments, and calculating employer's payments for social security, unemployment and worker's compensation.Responsible for balancing the payroll budget and documenting all transactions related to an employee's wages, including any payments or credits for commission, bonuses, salary and hourly pay.Resolves payroll discrepancies and answers employee payroll queries.Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions according to company policies and procedures.Prepare and oversee accrual-based accounting; perform month-end closing processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and reconciling accounts.· Prepares and maintains accurate financial records and reports in accordance with GAPP, transactions according to company policies and procedures.· Performs monthly reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts and balance sheet accounts.· Coordinate with vendors and clients to manage accounts payable and receivables.· Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and accurate financial statements.· Prepare and submit tax filings and other regulatory documentation.· Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.· Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts.· Generates reports form databases to disseminate information to internal departments and external entities as required.· Prepare and file payroll tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.· Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting and recognize insights to support strategic decision-making.· Performs other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities.· Extensive knowledge of payroll functions and wag/hour laws, including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.· Knowledge of accrual accounting systems, the generally accepted accounting principles, and QuickBooks.· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.· Excellent communication skills with both internal and external vendors.Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.Ability to understand and interpret policies and regulations.· Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and other financial software applications.· Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial matters.· Ability to ensure compliance with deadlines.Education· Bachelor's degree in accounting, or finance required.Other Requirements· At least three to five years of related experience required, preferably in a healthcare setting.· Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role.Working ConditionsThe position is in a well-lit office environment. Involves sitting approximately 90 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder. Equipment operated will be standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
