Accounting Manager

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:The Accounting Manager is a key member of the management team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and supporting the business through data-driven insight and proactive problem solving. This role ensures that all financial practices conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls are maintained, and financial reporting deadlines are achieved.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate monthly, quarterly and yearly closing activities to meet deadlines in accordance with public company reporting requirements.Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements and related schedulesOversee daily cash activities and periodically project future cash position for the purpose of maximizing return on excess cash balances or determining borrowing needsSupervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functionsAccount for all aspects of hourly and salary payroll and related benefitsMaintain product level standard cost and ensure accuracy of inventory and associated reserves.Manage fixed asset records including oversight and timely closure of new capital projectsMonitor internal controlsRespond to all internal and external audit requestsPrepare tax filings and initiate payments related to property and sales/use taxesEducation Required:Bachelor's degree in accounting or financeExperience Required:5-7 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment2-5 years in a managerial or supervisory accounting positionStandard costing and variance analysisJD Edwards or similar ERP systemSkills Required:Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)Effective communication and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with Microsoft Office programs with advanced Excel skillsLIMITATIONS AND DISCLAIMERThe above job description is meant to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position.All job requirements are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
