Wyoming County Community Health System is looking to a hire a per diem Psychiatric Assessment Officer. This position requires the performance of social work services in helping clients with social, emotional and related difficulties associated with their medical condition. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the director of mental health who consults with a psychiatrist. Employees in this class are expected to confer with professionals or agencies in or outside of the facility to obtain assistance and guidance with residents.Typical Work Activities:* Conducts mental health assessments in the WCCHS emergency room, as well as Wyoming County Jail, Nursing Facility and Acute Care Units;* When not in the emergency room, participates as staff and team member on the Mental Health Unit interacting with patient activities, facilitating individual, group and family therapy;* Provides social casework assisting patients and their facilities adjust to their mental and social problems;* Consults with the treatment team to develop discharge plans for assigned patients;* Established and maintains a cooperative working relationship with providers of mental health services in the community to ensure adequate and appropriate discharge planning and follow up care;* Coordinates the process of transfer of patients to other levels of treatment;* Documents in a concise and timely manner and according to policies and procedures all social work interventions;* Provides authorization on all patients admitted to the Mental Health Unit and to all third party payers;* Provides assistance to all patients admitted to the Mental Health Unit in need of social services, when not in the emergency room;* Maintains safety of patients and personnel by observing and reporting potential problems;* Assists in managing crisis situations with out of control patients including application of physical restraints.*Minimum Qualifications:*Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services or a closely related field with some experience working in a Mental Health setting.Note: Must obtain NYS License as a Mental Health Counselor, MSW or CSW within 12 months of appointment./*/*You MUST meet these minimum requirements in ordered to be offered and interview/*/*#WYHOSPPay: $35.97 - $41.65 per hourBenefits:* Employee assistance program* Employee discountSchedule:* 8 hour shift* Evening shift* Morning shift* Night shift* Weekends as neededEducation:* Master's (Required)License/Certification:* Driver's License (Preferred)Shift availability:* Day Shift (Preferred)* Night Shift (Preferred)Work Location: In person
