Subject: Position DescriptionJob Title: Licensed Practical NurseDepartment: Adult ResidentialPrograms: Residential, AdultSupervisor: Nurse ManagerFLSA: Non-Exempt, HourlySummary of Major Functions:Provide nursing care to ED Care patients in conjunction with supervising physician. Complete daily nursing duties associated with eating disordered patients.Duties and Responsibilities:Daily nursing duties, including specimen collection, point of care lab testing, phlebotomy, medication administration, following through with orders, performing EKGs, observing and recording weights, vitals, bathroom observation, among other necessary patient care. Works alongside registered nurse to carry out nursing duties and orders.Order standing labs protocol, record and notify provider and registered nurse of findings of relevant diagnostic and laboratory tests; follows up with necessary labs; shares results of labs with provider, escalating priority results with appropriate staff.Address patients medical concerns and inquiries; listen and communicate by providing clinical information in a clear and timely manner; requesting information and resources needed to provide care. Works alongside registered nurse to address medical complaints.Collaborate on care delivery by including milieu staff, physicians, interdisciplinary team management in both service and patient care improvements; treat all members with respect; demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct.Provides knowledgeable and thorough nursing coverage in conjunction with other medical staff. Works assigned shifts, according to FTE.Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of appropriate medications. Works alongside registered nurse, to regularly reconcile prescribed medications for assigned patients and notify providers of any concerns.Adheres to Infection Control standards for EDCare. Educates and adheres to regulatory bodies, including but not limited to The Joint Commission, CDC & OSHA regarding monitoring infections in staff and patients.Provides patient education regarding side-effects and efficacy of certain medications. Provides patient education about medical complications of eating disorders.Timely completion and accuracy of clinical paperwork: weights and vital signs and progress notes.Assists milieu staff with milieu management, among any other assistance neededAdheres to, complies, and demonstrates support for the mission and values of EDCare.Ensure confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining a secure and trusting environment.Provides and accepts feedback in a respectful manner from all staff. Demonstrates teamwork, open communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary team.Other job duties as assigned.Physical Demands and Environment:Sitting standing, and walking frequently during a 12 hour shift, talking frequently, hearing frequently, seeing constantly, reaching with arms and hands frequently, crouching occasionally and using fingers intricately. This position requires lifting/carrying up to 25 pounds rarely.Environmental conditions of this job include but are NOT limited to:99% inside, 99% normal temperature and 99% normal noise as expected in a medical office environment.Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Minimum Qualifications:Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Colorado within 60 days of hire required.Active CPR Certification or ability to obtain CPR Certification within 60 days of hire required.Experience treating patients with eating disorders preferred.Experience in a mental or behavioral health setting preferred.Good oral and written communication skills preferred.Computer Skills:Minimum of beginner skills in Microsoft Office suite.Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within an electronic medical records system.Must be able to efficiently learn and effectively work within various software products.
