As an agency found on principles of inclusion, Mary Cariola Center fosters an environment where all are welcome, and our differences are respected and valued.Full time and per diem positions availableSign on bonus eligibleDuties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and current school health information files on all students, including daily nursing or medical consultationsPhysically examine and determine health status for students regularly and as necessaryAssist Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) when requested or as assignedAdminister medications as prescribed by the student's primary care physicianObtain and maintain accurate and current medication orders and parent permissionsMaintain medicine cabinet with all medically approved medications, supplies and equipmentRecord and process all student/staff injuries on the appropriate accident/incident formInstruct all staff in the Health and Safety Procedures and establish appropriate reviewsCarry out all procedures established in case of medical emergency, delegating the LPN in crisis situationsMonitor the general health and safety standards used within the educational programAdminister inoculations to staff and/or children as approved by the Medical DirectorAdminister, interpret and document TB screenings on designated staff as assignedCarry out all nursing responsibilities, including the lifting, moving and positioning of studentsProvide on-site observations for students from an accredited Nursing School or other observations as assignedAll other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsAssociate's degree in nursingCertified by NYS as a Registered NurseAt least 6 months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experienceAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishBe able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 poundsPreferred QualificationsBachelor's degree in nursingExperience with individuals with developmental disabilitiesCertifications and TrainingsMust maintain NYS RN LicensureBLS for Healthcare Providers (CPR and AED)EEO Statement:We are an equal opportunity employer.
