Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care and hospice, and operates a research institute, innovation center and philanthropic foundation.SUMMARYHennepin Healthcare has a current opening for an Ultrasound Technologist in our Ultrasound department. This part-time (0.95 FTE) position will work Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7:30pm to 6:00am and Wednesdays from 9:30pm to 6:00am. This position will include a $5.00 an hour night shift differential.A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates (contract/temporary workers and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible).Performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings to the Radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs. Participates in the education of healthcare providers.RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinationsUses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and imagesUses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathological findingsAnalyses sonograms, synthesizes sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physicianCoordinates work schedule with departmental Supervisor and/or scheduling desk to assure workload coverageAssumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's careAssists with the daily operations of the ultrasound departmentMaintains ultrasound equipment and work area, and maintains adequate suppliesEstablishes and maintains ethical working relationships and good rapport with all interrelating hospital referral or commercial agenciesCoordinate with other staff to assure appropriate patient care is providedProvides ultrasound skill training for ultrasound technologist students and Radiology ResidentsQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Qualifications:Associate's degree in ultrasound technology and a graduate of an accredited School of Ultrasound Technology by CAAHEPCertification or certification eligible by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS). If "eligible", employee must be certified within one year of hireMaintains minimum CE credits as mandated by the accrediting body ARDMSPossess current CPR certification or obtain within 4 months of employmentPreferred Qualifications:One year of ultrasound experience or internship at HCMCProficient in Abdomen, OB/GYN and Small PartsYou've made the right choice in considering Hennepin Healthcare for your employment.
