POSITION SUMMARY:As a BMC Radiologic Technologist, you will perform vital X-ray imaging for all trauma, inpatients and outpatients. These images will assist our providers to accurately diagnose and care for our patients. You will gain a wide range of experience using cutting-edge technology, while working collaboratively with other department staff and our own Radiology Team to help further BMC's mission of providing exceptional care for all.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Diagnostic ImagingPerform appropriate studies in a timely manner, using proper positioning, technique and exposure factors as necessary and required, with a goal to use the lowest dose possibleSet up equipment, provide quality radiographs for radiologists and other colleagues, and perform other duties as requested by the X-ray Lead, Supervisor, Manager, and Radiology DirectorPerform exams on patients of all ages as required in all areas that Diagnostic Radiology is located and neededEnsures best turnaround time for all ordered exams to reduce delays in careExams to be performed as determined through our established routine protocols. Ensuring that exams ordered match the reason for exam and patient presentation, condition and history.Patient Care and SafetyPrepare patients for exams, ensuring their safety, comfort, and modesty at all timesAlways checking patient identifiers to validate correct patient name, DOB, MRN, correct exam and laterality ordered, every timeMonitor each patient's condition during exams, taking appropriate action when assistance is neededFollow established hospital infection control and safety procedures and use AIDET communication frameworkAdministrativeDocument exams properly in Radiology Information System and PACS to ensure all details and required information are includedMaintain professionalism with in-person interactions and also conduct proper phone etiquette with all staff, c0-workers, visitors and patientsMaintain licensure, certifications, CEUs and annual mandatory compliancesMentor and assist Rad Tech I's when neededJOB REQUIREMENTS:Current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License, ARRT Certification and Registration, or a Temporary Massachusetts Rad Tech License (must pass the national ARRT registry exam within one year and then apply for and receive permanent Massachusetts licensure within the one year)Current BLS/CPR CertificationCompletion of two years post-high school training in an approved school of radiologic technologyKnowledge of the principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology practices and the operation of radiologic equipmentTwo years of Radiologic Technology work experience required, in a hospital setting preferredExcellent communication skills and initiativeMaintain all Continuing Education UnitsJOB BENEFITS:Competitive payHighly subsidized medical, dental, and vision insurance options403(b) retirement planTuition reimbursement and generous employee discountsSupportive work environment with a focus on training, professional development, and growthWorking with a team of highly trained technologists who support each otherABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:The Diagnostic Radiology department at BMC is a full service, academic medical imaging department for both adult and pediatric patients.
