The Radiologic Technologist performs fixed and mobile radiographic/fluoroscopic and mobile CT procedures for the diagnosis/treatment of disease or injury in the OR and Periop Locations. In addition, the position provides patient education and performs quality assessment activities for the division, under the direction of the Imaging Manager.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSAssociate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography Certification and Ohio Department of Health Radiology License. 0 years of relevant experience required. Previous experience preferred.Duties and ResponsibilitiesImaging Technologist Duties - 80% of the timeProduces high quality radiographic/fluoroscopic imaging exams utilizing imaging skills for modalities as assigned.Performs Imaging Time Out to ensure correct patient, exam, protocol, and laterality are performed.Selects proper imaging parameters on individual patient basis, safely operates equipment in accordance with imaging guidelines by the state and national organizations.Utilizes ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) dose techniques with Digital Radiography and fluoroscopy equipment to produce high quality radiographic/fluoroscopic images.Starts IV and/or maintains existing access lines and ports and administer contrast medication, utilizing hospital standards.Provides general care to patients so that basic medical & comfort needs are satisfied; reacts in emergencies to initiate immediate & appropriate treatment.Properly assesses and screens patients for appropriate clinical information and appropriateness for exam indication; provides information to patient/family regarding imaging procedures.Has the authority to accept verbal orders from Licensed Practitioners for imaging procedures, following hospital policy.Completes necessary documentation & record keeping in EMR and PACs, on images, consultation/screening forms, maintaining patient confidentiality, and performs other clerical functions as assigned.Demonstrates universal precautions for infection control practices under the guidelines of OSUWMC.Performs lab functions needed for contrast medication administration and maintains lab competency according to OSUWMC lab guidelines.Accesses patient information and lab values in the Hospital information systems while maintaining HIPAA and medical center appropriate access policies.Maintains inventory of supplies and stocks areas with appropriate supplies.Ensures that equipment is clean and ready for use each day. After each case the equipment is cleaned and returned to the appropriate storage areas and prepared for the next day use.May perform other departmental functions within the scope of practice, as assigned.Demonstrates and promotes the mission, vision, values of OSUWMC, and acts as an important member of the team with integrity, leadership, and excellence in his/her daily work.Maintains professional relationships with co-workers and other hospital employees.Must be able to effectively and efficiently work as a team member.Organizes resources to maximize productivity.Uses time effectively.Responsible for managing and operating imaging equipment in the OR and Periop locations.Quality Assurance/Educational Responsibilities - 20% of timeMaintains current QA/QC data for assigned equipment and/or protocols within the environment.Reports equipment problems to management and may initiate corrective action & documents such, in conjunction with Clinical Engineering and/or Medical Physics department.Maintains a safe and neat working environment. Ensures continual survey readiness in preparation for survey visits from accrediting or regulatory agencies.Assist in orientation of new employees.Participates in departmental meetings and in services and required educational opportunities.Completes annual and other mandatory competencies by either computer or hands on learning by required deadline.Shares professional/technical expertise with students on clinical rotations and completes required student evaluations.Promotes a positive and collaborative learning environment for students on clinical rotations.Maintains all necessary certifications, trainings, and licensure consistent with federal, state, organizational and other regulatory organization rules, and guidelines.Maintains current BLS/RQI, ACLS (where appropriate) certifications as defined by the Medical CenterRegular 40
