Implementing raffles, games, and other enjoyable group activities with our team is important to maintaining a positive culture while working tenaciously to accomplish our goals.JOB SUMMARYThe Gastrostomy Tube Specialist is responsible for providing specialized training, education, and hands-on support related to Gastrostomy Tube (G-tube) management. This role includes conducting routine G-tube rounds, responding to emergency G-tube requests, managing G-tube and peristomal complications, and ensuring compliance with Medicare guidelines. The consultant will also provide preliminary X-ray readings, manage medication and feeding orders, and maintain detailed documentation.WHAT ARE YOUR ASSIGNMENTSG-tube Training, Education, and Consultation:Provide comprehensive training and education on G-tube management to healthcare staff, patients, and caregivers.Conduct hands-on skills training with sign-offs to ensure competency in G-tube care and management for medical staff.Provide telephonic or virtual consultation for other providers when the need arise.Routine G-tube Rounds:Perform regular G-tube rounds to monitor patients, assess G-tube function, and address any issues.Ensure that G-tubes are functioning correctly and that patients are receiving appropriate care.Emergency Response:Respond promptly to emergency G-tube requests, providing immediate assistance and intervention as needed.Troubleshoot and resolve urgent G-tube issues to prevent complications.G-tube and Peristomal Complication Management:Assess and manage complications related to G-tubes, including leakage and peristomal issues.Provide appropriate interventions to address complications and improve patient outcomes.Preliminary X-ray Readings:Conduct preliminary readings of X-rays related to G-tube placement and function.Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate assessment and management.Medication and Feeding Orders:Manage and oversee medication and feeding orders related to G-tube management.Ensure that patients receive appropriate nutrition and medication through their G-tubes.Documentation and Compliance:Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all G-tube-related activities, including training, rounds, emergency responses, and complication management.Ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines and other relevant regulations.Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with healthcare teams, including physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, nurses, dietitians, and radiologists to coordinate G-tube care.Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to provide education and support.WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY ACHIEVEDBoard certified physicians (MD/DO), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).Certification or specialized training in G-tube management is preferred.Experience in providing G-tube care and education.Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and manage complications.ATTRIBUTES NEEDED FOR THE ROLEExcellent communication skillsExperience working with healthcare related technologies, data, and software(s)Prior experience in cross-functional roles and team collaborationStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent organizational skills, ability to multitask, and time managementTechnical aptitude with the ability to adapt, learn quickly, and teach othersWORK LOCATION & SCHEDULEAbility to work flexible hours, including responding to emergency requests outside of regular working hours.Physical ability to perform rounds and hands-on training.The role requires substantial travel between healthcare facilities.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER:The Wound Pros is an equal opportunity employer committed to being an employer of choice, not just an excellent place to work but a great and inclusive place to work.
