This position is part-time, 28 hours per week.Job Summary:The Accountant is responsible for performing the general accounting operations of the agency on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to process payables and create financial reports/forecasts.Essential Functions and Duties:Supports CFO with the month end close process, financial statement preparation, and review of financial statements.Maintains and reconciles general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Assists with monitoring grant and contract revenue and preparation of corresponding reporting for such grants/contracts.Performs basic financial analysis, highlighting trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.Processes and records daily receipts.Processes accounts payable invoices and corresponding payments.Prepare various schedules and analyses required by the external auditors as part of the annual financial and 401k audit.Assists with preparation with budgets and forecasts.Helps maintain internal controls by following documented policies and procedures and striving to improve financial internal controls.Qualifications / Experience:Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field with a minimum of 3 - 5 yearsrelevant experience.Demonstrated working knowledge of QuickBooks required.Working knowledge of Paylocity or similar payroll software preferred.Proficiency in Excel skills required.Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:? Understanding of internal controls and following policies and procedures.? Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing andanalyzing financial data.? Ability to maintain strict confidentiality concerning financial and employee records.? Excellent time management, analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills.? Ability to work with little or no supervision.?
