OverviewThe Director of Finance and Compliance will partner closely with the SVdP leadership team and will be responsible for providing strategic financial and business leadership to the organization. The Director of Finance and Compliance will report to the Executive Director and will be a hands-on and participative manager and will lead the following areas that support the SVdP mission: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.Job ResponsibilitiesFinanceWorks with department leaders to complete draft department budgets.Working with the Board Treasurer, plays a key role in reviewing draft budgets and rolling up department and organization wide annual budgets with a focus on maintaining cost efficiencies.With the Board Treasurer, presents budget to the Finance Committee for review and comment.Reviews department budgets with Directors monthly, to analyze budgets, identify variances, and discusses next steps.Reviews department budgets with Executive monthly, discussing budget variances and needed operational next steps.Updates Board Treasurer on monthly financial status by department.Working with the Board Treasurer, approves expense into and out each account.With the Executive Director and Board Treasurer, reviews department requests for expenditures outside of budget at an established threshold according to an established policy (TBD).Serves as the primary contact with the organizations accounting firm.With the Accountant, prepares for the annual audit and serves as the point person during the audit.Prepares or ensures all state and federal IRS documents are filed promptly.Prepares the SVdP annual report to the National SVdP.Supports Conferences, as needed, to file annual reports to the State of Wisconsin.Works with Executive Director on the Waukesha County SVdP Council annual report.Works with the Executive Director and the Accountant on recording donation dollars and requirements of receiving bequests.With the Executive Director, works with tax attorneys as needed.Supports the Board and Executive Director in the acquisition or sale of property.Reviews organizations contracts to ensure compliance.Human ResourcesWorking with HR Generalist ensures compliance with all benefits requirements, DOL requirements, including reporting requirements.Working with HR Generalist, is involved in creating, implementing, reviewing and modifying organization policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the organization.Works closely with the HR Generalist, as needed, on staff management, hiring, terminations and disciplinary actions.IT SpecialistWith IT Specialist, reviews organizations IT needs on a regular basisEnsures SVdP is compliant with all IT requirements.With IT Specialist, ensures that SVdP IT equipment is designed for optimal outcomes.With IT Specialist, ensures that SVdP internal customers receive adequate help when needed.Support IT Specialist as needed when new projects are undertaken.Qualifications Director of Finance and ComplianceExperienceA minimum of 4 years experience in non-profit financial management and compliance.Experience with non-profit government compliance.Familiarity with HR and employee benefit practicesFamiliarity with IT and payment systems (PCI) requirements and compliance in a business setting.EducationBachelors degree in finance or accounting.Exposure to IT compliance, ability to learn the compliance.SkillsExcellent people leadership capabilities, including developing relationships and building cohesive, committed teams.Must possess and consistently demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer programs.Valid driver licenseAbility to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.Flexibility to occasionally work at multiple worksitesOtherUnderstands and supports the mission of St. Vincent de Paul
