Job Summary Develops and implements a learning environment grounded in Developmentally Appropriate Practice to ensure the unique needs of children are met in a safe, engaging, and nurturing atmosphere. Responsibilities: Fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth and development by maintaining a secure, stimulating indoor and outdoor environment, with attention to room arrangement, activities, materials, and equipment that align with the assigned curriculum and thematic activities. Provides supportive care and guidance that is consistently responsive and comforting, addressing each child's emotional and physical needs, while adhering to the established philosophy, policies, and procedures as defined by MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center Day Care Policies and Procedures Handbook, Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), and Dutchess County Department of Health. Assumes leadership responsibilities in assigned areas, including modeling appropriate language and behavior, participating and planning in center and classroom activities, and effectively supervising student teachers. Maintains open communication with children, parents, administrators, co-workers, and visitors in a professional, positive, and respectful manner. Ensures timely and effective written documentation, including lesson plans, daily activity reports, progress reports, and medication/documentation. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications/Requirements EXPERIENCE Minimum two years of experience in an Early Childhood setting preferred. EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree or Associate Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education or Child Development Associate. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Must obtain and maintain current Medication Administration Training (MAT) and First Aid and CPR Certification within three months of hire. Must be cleared through N.Y.S. Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) State Central Register and N.Y.S. Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) Criminal History Review. OTHER May come into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials; must exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment, and learn infection control policies. Demonstrates sound judgment, effective oral and written communication skills, and positive interaction with children, parents, and staff. Must complete 30 hours of job-related continuing education within each 24-month period as required by Office of Children and Family Services.
